Occasionally my monitor has a bright white line across it, while the rest is black. Is there a way I can fix it?

Your monitor is going bad and while you could probably get it repaired, it sounds as if your monitor is old and just needs to be replaced. You should really not attempt to fix it yourself unless you are a qualified individual in that area as the inside of the monitor contains capacitors that hold enormous amounts of electricity that shouldn't be tampered with.
