whats a down home southern meal? im from somerset in england, and we're in the south..and we have meals!...my favourite meal to cook and to eat is casserole at the moment, but thats more of a northern thing i think.

I grew up on them, but I really can't stand a lot of grease or oil no matter what kind of food it is. It gives me a nauseus feeling.

I just love good meals of any kind. And the best are foods that come from the heart.

I do. How about -- Southern fried chicken, corn bread, biscuits, fried okra, yellow squash casserole, green beans from the garden (seasoned and slow cooked) hot potato salad, sliced tomatoes from the garden, iced tea and for dessert blueberry cobbler, pecan pie.

Definitely!!! Southern meals seem to always be cooked with a lot of LOVE....and a cast iron pan! Cant go wrong!! :)

Is there really even anything else that can be classified as food? I live in the south so I am some what one sided :)
