No. My wedding rings are too small for me now, so I wear similar looking rings to replace them. It is the significance behind the symbol that is the most important, not the symbol itself.
-
I wear two rings. one is a silver ring that says: pences pour moye dv - which is old french for Think of me, God willing. It holds special memories for me of a vacation. The other ring is real gold and diamond and it was my grandmothers. I haven't taken them off in years.

I wear a wedding ring and engagement ring which I never take off. I wouldn't refuse, if the need ever came up, but by habit and choice. I was sorry just yesterday, when potting some plants, I punched down the soil with my left hand and potting soil got in the lacey design of both rings, and I had to scrub them with a brush. (A special ring brush I bought a long time ago.)

I wear a gold signet ring that was found buried on the family Ranch where I lived when I was first married. The ring seems to be a military signet...the adobe home was built during WWII by a military colonel in the coastal Californian mountains as a "refuge" for his family to flee from the Japanese "maybe" invasion...(during the Internment camps)... altho, my marriage has long ago been terminated...I am still an integral part of the Ranch, my ex, & his extended family which consider me family ...the ring symbolizes my connection to them..."ohana"...never ending.

The opal ring that my mother bought me. She has a horrible addiction to Oxycontin, and recently had back surgery. For the past couple months she has spent all of her time either withdrawing or sleeping so my ring reminds me of who she used to be and keeps me positive that she might be that person again someday.
