I'd say John Wayne. I know Elvis was making movies, but I doubt I've seen any one of them from start to finish. The first movie I remember was "True Grit" with John Wayne. I saw it with my mom and Sibs at the drive in. Mom was annoyed because she wanted to go home. The Sibs fell asleep, but I (the youngest) was wide awake and demanded we stay till the end.

Humphrey Bogart, Ingrid Bergman, Fred Astaire, Gene Kelley (sp?), Cary Grant..they always produced an enjoyable "product"..they were glamorous, mysterious and intriguiging..today we know way more than I care to know about everybody..gone is the glamour..gone is the mystery..everybody lets it all hang out all the time. :(
