I made about 4 loaves of soda bread this afternoon and tomorrow I will make barmbrack, my Nana's recipe for Tullach Mhór Lamb Casserole, and Irish stew (the same recipe I gave you a link for yesterday, Littlebird) My family always has a céilidh on St.Pats day and now that my Nana is older, i help out with more of the cooking

I'm still thinking. It will either be Irish stew, Ham and Cabbage, or Colcannon. I've got to shop tomorrow. I will definitely NOT have corned beef. Corned beef isn't Irish, it's American!!! Aaaaaargh! The immigrants who came to America had to find a way to preserve their meat, so they did it in brine (that is, they corned it.) They did not use that process in Ireland before they came over to America. Also, only the rich could afford beef; most people had a cheaper cut of pork. My grandparents came here from Ireland. Grandpa insisted that there be no corned beef on St. Patty's day. He wanted ham, as he was used to having. He told me that Irish pubs would only serve corned beef around St. Pat's day, and only because they know that the tourists expect it.
