people are good. :)

Agreed. Of course everyone's definition of good varies significantly.
-
Disagree. And here's why. Good and bad are defined by the god of a religious system, and the God in whom I believe says that we humans are not basically good. If you are a humanist, then you are your own god and therefore you can consider humans to be basically good. However, most other religions in the world posit a god outside of the human system who defines good differently than we humans would want. Psalm 14:2-3 "The LORD looks down from heaven on the children of man, to see if there are any who understand, who seek after God. They have all turned aside; together they have become corrupt; there is none who does good, not even one." The Holy Bible says that God defines goodness in terms of perfectly obeying the 10 commandments of Exodus 20 and Jesus made clear in his teachings that it is bad to even THINK of disobeying the 10 commandments, equating hate with murder and lust with adultry, etc. This is a standard too high for any human to reach. Romans 3:23-24 "for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and are justified by his grace as a gift, through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus" The Christian God sent his son, Jesus, to solve the problem of human badness by dying on the cross and taking on himself the punishment for our violations of the 10 commandments so that he can make us good (justified) if we believe in him.
