  • The band's name was The Electric Mayhem (or Dr. Teeth and the Electric Mayhem), and consisted of: Dr. Teeth (green with a red/orange beard and gold tooth, usually with a flamboyant top hat) - Band Leader, piano, lead vocals - performed by Jim Henson Sgt. Floyd Pepper (purple, shaggy red beard, sunglasses, various hats) - Electric bass, vocals - performed by Jerry Nelson (Floyd also served as the bands "Animal" Handler) Animal (pink and red fur, usually held down with chains) - Drummer, background vocals (AYAAHH, AYAAHH) - performed by Frank Oz Zoot (blue/green with dark blue hair, sunglasses, dark floppy hat) - Tenor Saxophone - performed by Dave Goelz Janis (or Janice - orange, long blonde hair) - Guitar, vocals - performed first by Erin Ozker, later by Richard Hunt These were the original five members of The Electric Mayhem starting on The Muppet Show in 1976. When you talk about "the band" these are the ones you're referring to. However, several other Muppets spent some time with The Electric Mayhem, including: Lips (orange skin, pink nose, yellow afro-style hair) - Trumpet - performed by Steve Whitmire (Lips played trumpet in the Muppet Show pit band in the last season, and appeared with The Electric Mayhem on rare occasions, including The Great Muppet Caper) Clifford (purple dog-looking thing, (apparently meant to be a human) with pink dreadlocks and sunglasses). - Vocals, percussion - performed by Kevin Clash (Rastafarian Clifford was one of the characters on the most recent incarnation of the Muppets, ABC's "Muppets Tonight" from 1996-1998. He helped out in the band on rare occasions).
