  • I agree...UNLESS they are rude first! I believe that you treat others how you want to be treated, that's what my parents taught me!
  • I agree with it totally and thats what I have taught my kids. Even when people are rude to me I remember my manners. It doesn't matter what they do as long as I am doing the right thing.
  • Tactfulness will always win friends and influence people. Rudeness is the opposite of tact and it tends to scare people away.
  • I disagree. I think that if you are in a dangerous situation, you should be allowed to be reasonably rude. Otherwise, I agree. :)
  • I agree. The mother of a friend of mine modified that advice, she said there is no excuse for accidental rudeness.
  • Total agreement. My Mother was very strict on politeness and manners.
  • your mother was absolutely correct, however, todays' generation will disagree with that.
  • I agree 100% my friend!
  • There are times when rudeness cannot be avoided...such as: Emergency phone call where you have to suddenly excuse yourself from ______ (dinner, movie, meeting), sudden unexpected belches...you don't always know when they are coming, things like that. However, blatant purposeful rudeness...there is absolutely NO excuse for that!
  • I agree totally with that statement. There is no excuse to being rude. Why be rude. It gets you no where.
  • There is a difference between being rude and being honest. For example, if someone is putting you on the spot and is making you uncomfortable it's not rude to tell that person how he/she is making you feel. If that person gets upset with your response then perhaps that person will think twice before being rude to you. There are people who act out of line to you for absolutely no reason and that is definitely rude. That is uncalled for and there is certainly no excuse for it. Life is more rewarding when we treat each other kindly and graciously and it's certainly not too much to ask for.
