  • Yes...
  • yes. I live in a condo and am unable to do repairs in the underground parking
  • No, it's easy.
  • yes I know how, and still pay. It is well worth 30 bucks to have someone else crawl under the car and bust a knuckle.
  • That would depend on the situation at the moment ... first I would ask myself if I had more time, or more money ... If I had more time, I would save money by doing it myself ... if I had more money, I would save time by paying someone else to do it for me.
  • Yes,I would. They have all the right equipment and proper disposal.
  • Yeah, sometimes I just don't feel like doing it:)
  • Thats sounds something like having a dog and barking yourself..... nah
  • Yes! I can and have changed my own oil, but shops can do it so much faster and for less than I can get the oil and filter and get rid of the used oil. I save my time for the big spendy jobs that I can do like brakes, water pump, thermostat.
  • Yes, for me its a matter or recycling the used oil.
  • Yes! I can and do cuz it's a small price to pay so i don't have to do it myself!
  • I used to change my own, but quick-change shops do so much for so little I'd be working for a quarter an hour if I did it myself.
  • Sure. I know how to clean my own house, but sometimes I pay someone to do it, because I don't have time and I don't like to do it.
  • Hell no I have a bmw that takes 6 to 6 1/2 qts of synthetic oil and it would around 100 dollars to get it changed at juffy lube and i could do it myself for half the price.
  • Possibly during the winter and probably during mud season. I have a dirt driveway and am not fond of jacking my car up on ice and the jack would sink into the ground in the spring.
  • Typical cost of an oil filter: $5 Typical cost of 4-5 quarts of oil: $10 My local Quik-EE-Lube place does oil changes for $18.99 plus tax. Sure, I'll pay $4 above the parts cost to save myself the hassle....
  • I pay to have someone else change my oil because I don't have a safe way to raise the front end of my car high enough to get under my car and do it myself. The jacks that one might use to change a tire are too unstable to use safely if you are going to be climbing under underneath your car.
  • I have done it myself many many times through the years. I pay to have it changed now. It's a matter of convenience and recycling. I drive a diesel truck that has an oil capacity of 14 -1/2 quarts and a massive oil filter. That's quite a bit of oil to catch and have to transport to have recycled. I have my wife's vehicle serviced at the same place.
  • It's really to cheap to have it done, and you don't get all dirty. Walmart does them as you tend to your shopping needs. Isn't life just a bit busy to do it yourself? Yet be sure to get nonsynthitic oil, and my 280000 miled saturn got slick 50 for its engine, eveyother oil change, added by ME, and still purrs!
  • Yea, it's easier to have someone else do it. Besides, all the scheduled maintenance on my car was included when I bought it from the dealer.
  • I believe in supporting the economy. Why would I want to climb under the car and get dirty when I can pay someone with a lift and the necessary tools to do it. I am cheap, but not that cheap.
  • yes.it depends. if i don't have time to change the oil.I have a selected few of oil changers in my area that i will take my car to.
  • no i can change my own oil and i think its just dumb to have somebody else mess something up when you could have just done it youre self the right way
  • Of course.
  • Hell no. I would instead use that money on something else I still didn't know how to do.
  • Hell no, I change my own oil. It's so much better that way, it's a little cheaper, and you know the quality of the labor because you're the one doing it!
  • I would rather do it myself. Its a cool thing to be able to get underneath your car and change your oil while praying that it doesn't fall off the jack.
  • I would never pay someone for something I know how to do. I change my oil, breaks, cut my own hair. Little things like this save me $, therefore I have more to spend on others.
  • Yes absolutely, especially on a newer car still under a warranty. But on my Muscle Car, NO WAY, nobody touches my baby but me, lol. But on my "daily" its just quicker and easier with waste oil disposal and the other minor inconveniences.
  • I change my own oil and I save money doing it, but the main reason is that I trust myself more than the quickie places. I had two horrible experiences with oil changes about 5 years ago. The first one happened when I had my oil changed at express lube in my Ford Ranger. I was going to a car show out of town the next day so I wanted to have good oil. About 30 mins down the highway the oil filter fell off and the oil started to drain out. Luckily it drained on the exhaust pipe which caused alot of smoke and I shut the engine off immediately. The car behind me was hit by the filter and then covered in oil but they stopped to help me not make me pay. The second time it happened a couple of years later. I had the oil changed at the Mazda dealership in my 2001 protege because, I kid you not, I was going to the same car show. I was about 30 minutes down the highway and the drainplug fell out. The oil drained straight onto the road and I didn't notice there was a problem until the check engine light came on. It was already too late. Mazda rebuilt the engine no charge. I doubt that a quick lube place would pay for an engine. I also know at least 3 people who have had really bad experiences. One of my friends had his oil changed at Wal-Mart and they forgot to refill the oil but luckily he didn't drive it when the oil pressure light came on.
  • Although I always do my own (I don't trust anyone to work on my car unless I'm standing there watching them)I will pay good money not to get dirty. I use Amsoil in all my vehicles so I only change my oil once a year anyway. The quick lubes rip you off for $30.00 oil changes when in fact they are only putting $4.75 worth of product in your car. The rest is for labor and disposal. Check out HighTechSyntheticoil.com it's worth the $60 bucks for great oil and filter and just one change a year. I also get about 2.5 more mpg and with gas @$4.00/gal. the savings in fuel virtually pays for my oil changes, it's a no brainer.
  • I worked on my own car since I was 16 yrs old with a little help from my brother. I went to school to be an aviation mechanic and I swore that when I had the money for someone else to work on my car I would never do it myself again. I am true to my word. Besides, it is almost the same price to have someone else do it.
  • I do now because its hard to change your own oil in an apartment. They kinda frown on it and you have to take the oil right away to an autozone or other part store right away since there's no place to put the container. If it wasn't for all that I'd change my own oil because I like to and it makes me want to take care of other problems or maintenance.
  • Because my time is better spent or more valuable doing something else
  • I like to do it myself. Sometimes you get someone who cranks the wrong way on your oil drain plug and strips it out or they tighten the oil filter too much or not enough.
  • I do know how to do it, but you really don't save any money doing it yourself, and it's a pain in the butt to do too.
  • yes. they check all the fluids. they do lie to me and tell me i need stuff when i really dont. i say no, i will do it next time. they call it upselling. i call it a lie. they say they are just giving me an opinion. i dont like taking it to fast lane for that reason. they are quick. a lot quicker than if i were to do it myself. changing the oil filter isnt easy.
  • YES == FOR $45.00 CHECK EVERYTHING FAST AND COMPLETE. ITS BETTER THAN DOING IT YOURSELF AND COMPLETE.
  • No becuae it is cheaper and disposing the oil properly is not that hard either
