• You should take the family to the vet. Eye discharge can be the result of any number of things, from a minor injury or infection to a major disorder. Because they babies are so young, and their mother will be weakened from birth and nursing, if it is more than a minor problem, they may all need to be treated before the problem can spread. better to be safe than sorry, and, while you are there, you can get everyone health checked for safety.
  • Get some sterile eye wash and using a cotton ball or swab, dip and wipe the eye and rinse it with the eye wash. Then apply some optic ointment (tri-optic or terramycin ointment). Do both these things twice a day until the problem is gone for at least 24 hours.
