  • Oh my goodnes, I myself am a wrestling fan but I must admit, WWE, NWA, etc. are all fake. Some big finishers like frog-splash or certain moves are real and they do hurt.
  • I would have to say to an extent. Most wrestlers do have to have some physical/athletic prowess. They have to know how to fall without getting hurt and also how to execute moves that won't (seriously) harm their competitor. Obviously, parts are real (like when someone breaks something, dies, or starts bleeding.) On the other hand, some parts are very fake (hitting someone 20 times in the head and they're still conscious.) If you're asking about the realness about the outcomes of games, I'd say that some of it is planned, but I'm no expert. Hope this helps :D
  • Depends on your definition of "real". It's not real, in the sense that the outcome, who's going to win, etc. is pre-determined, based on considerations like storyline, which wrestler is being promoted, etc. That's why you'll never see Vegas giving odds on the WWE! But no-one who spends any time watching wrestlers train and work would use the word "fake" - I'd reserve that for action films starring Schwarzenegger or Stallone, where the actors in question are kept safely away from the slightest danger. Yes, there are ways to minimise the risks of certain moves, like the piledriver, but injury remains a certain part of every wrestler's life. On those terms, it's very, very real. Personally, I never use the word fake; I like the term "exhibition wrestling."
  • No i can't say it's totally fake. The bleeding and hitting steel chairs are real. But of course the winner is planned from before.
  • some of the aspects of wrestling is real like the injuries or deaths but as for who wins that is all planned, wrestlers get together before there matches to discuss what they are going to do. themn when they wrestle they whisper in each others ears to make sure they are allright before moving on to the next move.
  • Fake may not be the right word. Choreographed is probably a better one. And yes it is staged and rehearsed.
  • Not if asked my Great Grandfather, but I think he said it mostly to get Great Grandma going. But yeah, it's faked. All that stuff you see is choriographed and scripted and well rehearsed so the actors don't get hurt.
  • Maybe this is lazy, but since my answer would just repeat what I wrote under the question "Is the blood in the WWE real?" then I am just going to post my answer from there - "A lot of people have a hard time accepting that just because the storylines are scripted, that doesn't mean everything about professional wrestling is fake. The only false things are a) the storylines are known in advance and b) the wrestlers do not actually attempt to hurt each other in the ring, they instead work together to create painful looking moves in the safest possible way while still making them look dramatic. But the blood is real, the risks are real (as they say in the commercials!) and many wrestlers spend their careers in constant pain, wrestling through injuries sustained in the ring, and it is terribly disrespectful of people to constantly accuse them of being "fakes". Nobody complains that their favorite soap operas are "fake" because the characters are fictional and the plot is scripted; yet pro wrestling is the same thing, a soap opera, set in an athletic environment... but people treat it totally differently and disrespect a bunch of guys (and girls) who put themselves in harm's way every week to entertain the public by doing down what they do. I have yet to figure out the reasons why..." Original location of this answer - http://www.answerbag.com/q_view/33331/215718
  • It is scripted and rehearsed, but some unscripted things DO happen, like Owen Hart's incident, and the many botched moves that happen. But most of the time, the storylines and matches are all scripted and predetermined months in advance.
  • Both - in different ways.
  • I think the realness of it is very minute. Now there is more talking then anything.
  • It's really fake.
  • It is not a real fight. Big ol' boys like that would be a little more scuffed up in a real brawl. It is real as far as being athletic. Can you swing a 400 pound dude over your head?
  • Fake. It's a man's soap opera.
  • Both! IT is fake in the fact that it's all set up and they know who will be the winner in the end. But it's real to the point of the stunts they pull, pain they feel, and the injuries they sometimes get in the process. They also work very to prepare for each event and all they do to stay in shape for these events.
  • It depends on your definition of 'fake'. If you mean are the wrestlers really trying to injure each other, then no, they are not. It is entertainment, and in reality they try to look as if they are hurting each other and in great pain themselves while executing dramatic and dangerous stunts as safely as possible. The following is something I have posted on here twice already giving my thoughts on the matter, you should really have read it already since this is a duplicate question... "A lot of people have a hard time accepting that just because the storylines are scripted, that doesn't mean everything about professional wrestling is fake. The only false things are a) the storylines are known in advance and b) the wrestlers do not actually attempt to hurt each other in the ring, they instead work together to create painful looking moves in the safest possible way while still making them look dramatic. I have yet to figure out the reasons why..." So really, asking this question totally misses the point. The question is whether WWE is entertaining or not, not whether it is "real or fake"... Friends and Frasier never got slated for being "fake" even though everyone there was actors working from a script and nobody even thought to judge those shows on anything other than how enjoyable they were to watch... WWE is in the same field as that.
  • It is SOOOO fake.
  • both. they are real athletes but most of the moves they use could kill a man, there is a lot of acting.
  • ITS AN ENTERTAINMENT SHOW, PRETTY MUCH LIKE THE MUPPETS HA HA
  • I think it is reel. They are kicking and beating them severly.A normal human being will die if he encounters such beatings.
  • It's all plain acting. The "wrestlers" are more like actors on steroids. All the fights are staged and the winner had already been decided way before the actual fight begins. Need more convincing evidence? Professional boxers use soft, padded gloves, right? Even those soft cushioned gloves can open up gapping wounds on an opponents face. How many times have you seen The Rock and Triple H hit an opponent with bare knuckles and doesn't even cause a black eye? You decide. It's just adrenalin pumping acting that's really fun to watch.
  • some of its real, some of its not. there was a show that used to come on in the US a few years back that actually showed how they do the stunts. the only time it gets real is when someone accidentally does a stunt wrong
  • All wrestlers are highly trained athletes. It takes great physical ability to do what they do. That said, yes , all matches are scripted and rehearsed in advance. It's an over-the-top show, that millions find entertaining. I don't care much for it.
  • Its a known fact that the majority of it is acting. If you look closely you'll see that the punches dont even touch the person.
  • It is staged to the extent who is winnging and maybe a couple of big spots (moves that are planned) but i used to do wresting and i can tell you it hurts alot but it's worth it for the fans! we are all mates who beat each other sensles
  • WWE matches are planned and rehearsed beforehand. However, the blood IS real apart from in the backstage angles and in the blood-from-the-mouth.
  • I don't think, I know
  • Yes, thats why its not listed as a "sport" but an "entertainment" program... And it is certainly entertaining OOOHHHHH YYYYYYEEEEEEAAHHHHHH
  • If it were real, the loser would be carried away on a stretcher.
  • Well.... YES. They are talented, just not the way they would like you to believe. They happen to be very built actors who know how to sell their performance to a crowd and perform stunt falls. I dont like it, I like martial arts and cage fighting, but you have to give them some credit.
  • Its Scripted not fake the pain they exipreence is real (anyone who tinks its fake is a dumbass
  • NO SHIT
  • Lets say the word ENTERTAINMENT on the end may be a clue. Wrestlers used to have to be members of Equity the Actors union in the UK.
  • wrestling isn't really fake but scripted
  • the holds arent
  • No, it is real. If I gave you a body slam, believe me, you would feel it.
  • It sooooooo fake like bigfoot
  • No; the matches, storylines, and some of the injures are scripted.
  • i think wwe is faked to the extent that the winner is pre-determined and the fights are safer than not. but it is not as fake as one might think as the stunts and the high flying moves done by them are real. they practise hours to execute the moves to perfection without getting hurt and hurting the opponent. moves like swanton bomb by jeff hardy and 619 by rey mysterio are very dangerous these take a lot out of them. we should respect the pro wrestlers for their commitment and hardwork if not for their fakeness by atanu

  • WWE IS ACTUALLY REAL BUT THEY HAVE STORYLINES MOVES R REAL BLOOD IS HITS R KICKS ARE SOMETIMES THEY BOTCH IF THE PERSON BARLEY MISSES BUT ITS TRULY COMPETITIVE AND THEY MAY ENDURE ALOT OF PAIN BUT THEY GET ADDICTED TO DRUGS STEROIDS PAIN KILLERS LOOK AT JEFFOREY HARDY HE HAD TO GOTO REHAB LOOK AT OWEN HART HE GAVE HIS LIFE TO WRESTLING ALSO FOR THE PPLZ THAT SAY ITS FAKE YU JOIN WWE AND SEE HOW IT GOES IN THE RING YOULL BE LUKY TO LIVE ONE NIGHT
  • Its fake, but still dangerous, and knowing that its dangerous is probably why fans still watch it.
  • No, it is just the same as any other major wrestling promotion. Maybe it is a little less regimented, though I haven't really seen it enough to comment definitively, but it is still essentially scripted.
  • Supposedly, there is an actual wrestling script for a TNA show floating around the internet somewhere.
  • TNA is fake like WWE is but WWE owns TNA always will because of wrestlers like triple h, chris jericho, randy orton, batista and legends its made stone cold. TNA is really full of WWE rejects
  • The WWE is in a fact Fake but the percentd of fakeness is 90% fake wich leaves 10% real
  • Both TNA and the WWE are 'real.' you can not contest their existance. Also, both are very scripted.
  • Some Wrestlers are really actors and athletes WWE has the word entertainment so there has to be storylines to entertain you and yes whenever the wrestlers talk its all scripted if you want to see an example just put Undertaker's Concrete Crypt Match Rehearsal.
  • C'mon man. It's not real but it's real cool.
  • It's real entertainment, like a play or a dance. Think ballet on steroids:-)
  • If you talk about the guys in colourful costumes playing the roles of "good", "bad", "ugly" etc etc, then it is largely fake. It is showbusiness, not real fights. the actors need to be in good shape, though. My personal opinion is that wrestling is very shallow and boring. It appeals to the mindset of 8 yeard-öld boys.
  • It is fake in that the outcomes are predetermined. The moves are practiced over and over in wrestling schools before they ever hit the ring so that they can take a fall or go with the move without being permanently injured. I don't care if it is fake, I am watching it anyway. Have been watching it for 45 years.
  • yah its fake in the sense that they fight for money i can't say the blood is real if its real than how they gonna get up on their knees the other day without any stitches. and abt hitting knuckles on the opponents face than take a close look they actually apply their wrist by kissing opponents forehead. actually u forgetting that they are trained to perfection means showing people dat the fight is real with real punches but its modified punches, kicks & somersaults (also see the chair hitting the ground the most to make a good sound)so to cause little pain to the opponent (absorbing only 20% pain out of 100)but its not 100%fake some stunts are death defying jus lik matt hardy jumping from the ladder 20 feet above frm de ground and thats wat they are paid for coz its entertainment world known as world wrestling ENTERTAINMENT and i still love wwe its awesome n if u wanna see perfectionist than see triple h and if u wanna see jerk than it must be grt khali he doesnt know how to execute the stunts and wat to do next always seems to be puzzled.
  • The blood is real because if they would use stage blood you would see it on their hands.
  • The blood is real because if they would use stage blood you would see it on their hands.
  • the WWE is all fake they go through training to fake stuff like that and they have fake blood and everything
  • its just as real as the tooth-fairy
  • about as real as god. ;) that should turn some heads.
  • It's "Wrestling Entertainment" Even the WWE admits it's all well planned out now. I don't care either way as I marvel at some of the wrestlers bravery and skill whilst in the ring. Bravery meaning highly dangerous flying moves.

  • The only real competitive wrestling is the Greco Roman type they have in schools clubs and can be seen in the Olympics. Wresting is staged if it was not choreographed they would break necks and backs with the moves they use. In the UK Professional Wrestlers used to be required to be members of EQUITY (the actors Union) I am not sure if it is still a requirement.
  • Yeah. Real Fake!
  • WWE is part real part fake, though they do NOT reaherse it, it is perditermined. The hitting is real, but they do not throw fists, they throw forearms. Many people say that them getting hit in the head with a chair is fake, than if someone like that comes on here, you tell me why sometimes they show up in the hospital the very next day. I bleeding is real sometimes, but it is not a bloodcapsule, it is a razorblade that the cut off a part of and put it in the tape. Then after a punch SOMETIMES they scratch their head so that their is blood, but not all of the time, SOMETIMES THE BLOOD IS REAL.
  • Like interscholastic wrestling? No.

Also, you have to admit it, a 200-400 pound moster jumping on you from a top rope will hurt if it is on a mat, a bed, a pillow, anything, and if you don't believe me, tell a 300 pound person to jump on you and see how it feels.
  • i am a trained professional wrestler and one of the first and last thing you are told is that its REAL cuz it REALLY hurts and sometimes you can REALLY get hurt bad even resulting in death.but however you are trained to land in the correct way so that you don't actually get hurt as bad.but however parts of it is actually not real (like say that john cena and randy orton are in the ring looking very mad at each other even making fun of one another.most of the time that fake they're probly best friends behind the curtain.but that the reason its called entertainment.) wrestler are not enemys they are brothers and sisters. honesty we work very hard REAL hard.we love all our fans and will do anything to entertain you!!!!
  • the fucking is real in the wwe but fight is not real
  • Wrestling is actually not fake to awnser the topic creators question. Some people might have the vision that it's choreographed when there is no evident proof that it actually is. Please try to not believe everything you here.
  • No. It is not coreographed nor is it fake in anyway. It's 100% full blown contact. Despite the nauseating fact that some people might think it's staged, it actually isn't. Please don't believe everything you here as there is no solid proof to the question of wrestling being real or not.
  • G'day AB-Joel, Thank you for your question. It is as fake as a three dollar bill. It is a simulated sport mixing real wrestling with theatre. Most people know it isn't real and accept it for what it is. Regards
  • I used to think it's real but it's not. Many moves are done with both opponents being 'cooperative' Like the one bein carried would jump himself. They once showed this in tna. There's also some video on utube where this guy does all the moves with his little sister. Now how can a 5 year old carry a teen and do all the manuevers. There are many tricks. If someone jumps from above onto another, the one on the mat would try to put the arms around his abdomen and the jumper would first put his arms down. I still enjoy it. Was heart broken when I had first found out when I was a teen. The injuries are real though.
  • Yes, it's real acting.
  • Nope. :D
  • Professional - Only in the Olympics... Non-Professional - school wrestling, and when I pin my brother...
  • NCAA, Olympic and high school wrestling is. Sumo is too. Pro wrestling is real acrobatics and choreographed movements and it is really entertaining for the fans. The Iron Sheik cracks me up. He sounds like he's trashed all the time.
  • No. It's mearly an excuse for guys to touch eachother.
  • Some are, some are not ... the WWE is just faked for entertainment ... Judo, Sumo, Chin-Na, & Olympic are real ...
  • No! These wrestlers are trained and they practice so that no one gets hurt. The winner is determened before the match even starts.
  • No! Watch closely next time you see a wrestling match. You will see that when they kick each other, their foot never really touches them, they are pretending it hurts. They never really punch either, if you watch you will see they turn their arm so only their elbow hits them.
  • one word-FAKE
  • it is real because nobody can do that just like that and how d othey practice wwe is real or else if it and it is only called entertainment because many wrestlers have been in movies shows and books and i cant belive people doing that and that could be fake how do they hit a steel chair on your face "The safe way." use your mind people
  • real as in are they really hurting each other to win a belt? yes it is real.
  • It's all fake. They all say it's fake. They're putting on a show.
  • Some of the moves are real. the winners of the matches are set up ahead of time
  • It's all a big show! Obviously lotsa people find it entertaining!!
  • Professional wrestling is a staged performance, with a script and a predetermined "winner". It is very different than sports wrestling (amateur wrestling).
  • i think its all acted out but the blood like others have said is real. accidents happen in acting and thats the risk they take when they choose their jobs. its just a fun show to sit back, pop open a beer, chill with your friends, and pretend. nothing wrong with that rite.
  • You know what if you are in the UFC or WWE you still are getting some form of pain scripted or not so lets respect both sides scripted and non scripted. It takes allot of dicipline to look and train like these guys do, so lets give them all a break... no pun intended...... (From The Aussie Guy, who loves Mau Thai, Perth W.A)
  • Wrestling is real ive been in the wrestling buisness sense wcw im 43 now
  • It's All Real Like The U.F.C Ask My Uncle Randy Orton
  • You think it is real lol
  • I do. They'd all be dead if it wasn't, surely?
  • If an event is a real sport then you can bet on it. You cannot bet on wrestling, same as you cannot bet on a broadway play.
  • Fake and stupid.
  • doesnt everyone???
  • its fake but i still luv WWE, woooo go JOHN CENA!
  • its fake but i still luv WWE, wooooooooooooo go JOHN CENA!!!
  • There is quite a diference Yes They are both scripted but in WWE the superstars memorize what is ment to be hapening next Eg. Reverse DDT Then 619 then get pin somet like that but longer and they are told who is going to win the only thing in tna is who is going to way the superstars are told how to land from a fall but the moves are real and the superstars dont no wats hapening next
