• Yes, at least one of the top breeds. I love them.
• In fact they are one of the top breeds ranked for high intelligence. I'm pretty sure.
• i know someone that had a border collie mix, it ended up attacking everyone in the family and went to the shelter. i know the man who runs the shelter, it attacked one of his volunteers and was put to sleep. they are working dogs, really meant to herd sheep.
• They are the top dogs for sheep but I heard that the Jack Russell Terrier is also very clever.
• I love my golden retriever, but my next dog will be a border collie. I hope that isn't for a very long time, though.
• There was this one girl in high school I'd put up against your Border Collie any day.
• They are very smart but I think the German Shepherd takes some beating.
• I do! i had a border collie for 6 years and she was the smartest dog around!
• Not me. Barkiest, maybe
• German Shepherds can be taught to do Police work, well so can Jack Russell's so Border Collies can too. Border Collies learn faster than German Shepherds do, so there is no wrong answer all in all, The German Shepherd and the Border Collie is tied. Watch this Jack Russell do police work: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rTN5kTkdvME And look at this Border Collie: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zJNawbIA_iM No dog is smarter, I think there all the same! **LAURA***Proud Mother of Dally and Holly, Purebred Border Collies!~ Dally Holly
• I know exactly the Border Collie is the smatest breed of dog!!!!!!
• Oh I definetly do! I own a border collie and I think he is the smartest thing! He is such a suck and has such a great personality. I have owned him for six years and he is still like I just got him yesterday! I would strongly recommend a border collie to people who have kids because he is great with them! We just happened to get a border collie with short hair so he doesnt shed AS MUCH! Im not saying he doesnt shed because believe me he does! So if you are planning on getting a dog get a border collie and you wont be dissapointed. I am attaching a picture so you can see how photogenic and cute he is!
• My girl is a Border Collie. She's so smart I let her do my income tax return, because after I run with her I'm so tired I just lay on the couch. Border Collies must be exercised daily or they may need exorcising.
• I don't...no offense to the breed as there are some great ones, but I've known too many. They remind me of those really intelligent people...the one's who have NO common sense. Easy breed to teach, but unless they have a job or or constantly being stimulated they act like a doofus. The one at our barn has litterally ran into the fences, I don't know how many times. Once she hit it so hard she knocked herself out vold.
• I do think they are smart, I have had Border Collies. In my personal experience, however, the Australian Shepherd is just as intelligent, if not more so. They are a very similar breed and both breeds make delightful pets, if trained and socialized properly!
• Most studies list the Border Collie as the smartest dog breed.
• I don't know enough about that .. But I had a border collie that was extremely intelligent
• I have 2 babies , both 15 years old my girl is a pure border collie and she is adorable , my other is a lab cross blue cattle and he is my boy , now they both are very very smart but in different ways but the one thing she is ...she's the boss! and lets everyone know it ...:)
• i just got a staffy cross border collie pup... he is 7-8 weeks old, and the first night we had him, he learnt how to sit, drop, 'get to bed' 'no' up and down.. I was blown away!!! i cant wait to take him to puppy pre school... if he can learn this in one day by me, i cant wait to see what potential he has!!!!
• I believe the border collie is the smartest breed of dog. The american kennel club has ranked border collies no.1 for most intelligwent dog breed. I have seen border collies sled racing, herding, agility, obedience, flyball, tracking, police work, heel work to music, splash dog, search and rescue, and much more.
• amazing friendly smart dogs. actually considering getting one rough coated collies r amazing !!!!!!
• Petsmed.com shows the Border Collie as number 1 in the top ten: http://www.petmedsonline.org/top-10-smartest-dogs-in-the-world.html
• I have heard that and I truely believe it. Mine did some amazing things, it was like she could actually understand english. Blew my mind. The Vet figured she had epilepsy so we tried meds but couldn't find the perfect amount to give her. I took her to the Vet for overnight observation and she passed away. Sad Sad thing.
• this question i asked wrong... it should be, which dog do you believe is the most intelligent... border collies, ithey are ranked one of the highest intelligent breeds, but according to research they're the bottom, out of 10, they're about the 9th.
• i don't just believe it, it is a known fact.
• In boarding school, one of the deans had a border collie that she took with her everywhere. Whenever a group of people gathered the dog would run circles around and it would chase anything that moved suddenly like leaves being kicked in the air. When you went to the dean's office the dog would be attacking the pillow it slept on. This particular border collie did not give the impression of intelligence.
• Even though I don't have a Border Collie, I've heard so many stories that have convinced me that they are truly one of the smartest breeds.
• They are very smart, I have a 7 month old little blue and white one and a 2yr old Sheltie. However the Sheltie is probably as bright and is a grade 3 agility dog, but he is clever even for a Sheltie. He can outwit the border Collie and picks up learning tricks quicker but then my Border Collie is only a baby right now. Border Collies are extremely good at specific tasks but tend to be a bit obsessive compulsive in nature. If they were human 50% would be in therapy, 10% would have committed suicide before they got to 20, 20% would be neurotic academics, another 10% would be just a normal humans and 10% would be running the world!
• My trainer says yes. Her husband trains German Shepherds they disagree. I don't know I have heard Standard Poodles and just asked a question which of these 3 is the smartest.
• Not me.
• Ask the question on Google. The Border Collie is definately the smartest.
• Border collies are bred for intelligence and performance, not for appearance. I now have my fifth border collie (not all at once), and this one's the smartest of all.
• Border Collies most definitely are on the smartest breeds of dogs. They frequently used in sporting trials and often win. They are quick and agile as well as good at problem solving. I found a lot of info here. http://www.greatdogsite.com/breeds/details/Border_Collie/
