I would suggest you have it done professionally. Of course it could cost anywhere from $300.00 to $1500.00. I have no idea what size tree you are talking about. I have trees in my backyard that are close to 300 feet tall. If it's no more than 20 to 30 feet tall then use a chainsaw and cut it down. After that, either remove the trunk by manually chopping it out with an ax, or contact a stump grinder. If you have money to blow, then chop it off 6 to 10 feet above ground and call in a chainsaw sculptor if that's your thing.
