When I fish from shore I cast as far out into the water as I can. When I fish from a boat I cast as far up to the shore as I can. I'm not real sure on this issue but I do know that it is a very fine line that separates fishing from standing on the shore looking like an idiot.

Near Water. :-) No but seriously it really depends on the time of year, where you are and what you want to catch. I've fished in Alaska near break up and although I usually get bored fishing it was really good there as ice covered most of the lakes still and so the fish congregated near the lake edges (where the ice had gone) and I was able to fish (using fish eggs, using the old throw the bait and reel it in approach) and caught quite a few fish successfully.

To catch the most fish: A net. To catch the biggest fish: Large, native baitfish and patience. To catch the least fish: Without anything in the water. To have the most fun: With good company.

Bounce the bottom for bottom dewellers. use large hooks with a small keeper hook on top. Load it up with freash occy, pilchard, squid head. Sound around for some reef and then drift over the top whilst bottom bouncing with large sinker.

Depends on several factors. Type fish, area to be fished, desired way. I like trolling or fly fishing for cold water fish. bobber or bottom fishing for warm water fish.
