If you verbally ask someone a question, how long do you typically wait with no response before repeating yourself?
Assume the person you asked makes eye contact, but doesn't say "umm" or any other similar noises. I notice I start feeling unreasonably impatient after about 20 seconds, but I'm trying to work on this.

From my experience, usually if it's a personal question I am asking, he or she will pause for a couple of seconds to answer. It's like they're telling me by eye contact... I caught them by surprise. They weren't prepared to answer the question.
