Bernie and AOC (among others) think it's a good idea for the post office to get involved in banking now.
Can anyone tell me why this is not one of the dumbest things they've come up with yet?

The USPS was once in the low-end banking business until the 60s. Perhaps some sort of marketing arrangement with established banks could work out as an alternative for those who would otherwise patronize check-cashing places. Essentially, I don't see why this couldn't just be done with ATMs.

Archie Bunker The Post Office looses billions every year. Why the hell would we want the government involved in banking. That's one of the main reasons why we have so many problems with the student loan crisis. And don't forget the mortgage crisis. The government should not be in the business of banking.
