What is Astrology and why is it in the mainstream?

Zodiac Signs, Horoscopes, Moon People, etc. I never understood this sh*t because I thought it was dumb, no I still think it's dumb. However, I would like to delve into Astrology and see what all the fuss is about but I have no idea where to start and what to learn, could someone point me in the right direction or just explain to me what the f*ck is even going on?

I can go several months without hearing anything about astrology or anybody's concern about astrology. I know it exists but, from my perspective, would not call it mainstream.
