Linda JoyAre you vegetarian? Do you avoid pork? Or for other reasons?

According to its label, Spam's basic ingredients are pork, with ham meat added, salt, water, modified potato starch as a binder, sugar, and sodium nitrite as a preservative. Natural gelatin forms during cooking in its tins on the production line. Or it could be a lot of unwanted emails you know you did not subscribe to.

Mostly ham. Spam remains very popular in Hawaii. In my area there is a new TV ad for Spam that states, "Don't knock it until you have fried it". Kinda cute

I like it pretty well. The "Lite" version is even tastier than the original (more meaty tasting, IMO). They used to have a commercial that claimed it was made of "Shoulder of Pork and hAM". Not sure how true that claim is, but the commercial went on to claim that that's where the word SPAM came from - its two primary ingredients.
