  • LMAO Australia is as much apart of Asia as the US is in Europe or Europe is in Africa ect. Australia is part of Australasia not Asia!
  • I think the jury's still out on whether one country can truly contain FULL expressions of existing, & quite different cultures. ALthough we are definitiely moving towards more integration of the asian culture. ( there is, for example, more asian trade and asian languages taught, than compared to 10 years ago.)
  • If they have not yet ,it is about time.
  • Australia is a seperate continent. The global region is referred to as Australasia at times. Kind of like using the phrase Pacific-Rim, but that doesn't mean that Seattle is part of Tokyo.
  • Australia is ACTUALLY part of Austrilasia a continent in its own right... *Edit - LOL I bet you wish this one would sink like a brick huh Solid Gold! *
  • Culturally and geologically, Australia is separate from Asia. Australia is itself, not anywhere else. It in certainly not Europe, even if many people came from Europe. But it is not Asia either.
  • Australia is NOT part of Asia. Tell me who you heard that from, so I can bite them on the leg.
  • On AB it is classified as part of Oceania. Maybe it will embrace Polynesian, Indonesian, Micronesian or some form of Nesian-ness before mainland Asia-ness.
  • I don't know why anyone would consider Australia part of Asia. It's about 1800 miles from Australia to the nearest point on the Asian mainland (Singapore). Thats about how far it is across the Atlantic Ocean from Newfoundland to Ireland.
  • Australia is not part of Asia ...we were and still are mainly a European/anglo saxon country and I don't think we ever will become part of Asia ..nor should we
  • that's pretty funny that people consider this land down under to be part asian.... most vibes of this place is laid back, and asia is full of smart people... nothing wrong with either, nor are they correct... but this is what most people seem to think! im never going asian way... im too aussie!
  • If you look at it that way, wouldn't it make more sense to embrace our 'aboriginal-ness' first?
  • Asia is alot closer to Australia than England. Why did they leave it so long? You can't say they didn't have their chance. Exactly what are you trying to say here?
  • Get a map. Australia is not part of Asia.
  • Ah no Australia, my friend is part of this beautiful thing called a commonwealth, it was established and pioneered by Europeans. Even the indigenous people of Oz Came down on rafts from lower Indonesia and the likes. I as a nationalist I consider us to be closer to England and Europe than Asia despite geographical technicalities.
  • ahhhh man. come to australia. we may be multicultural. but we are no part os asia. douche.
  • Never heard that before, but even if it is...there is no such thing as "Asian-ness". Even asian culturals vary, you cant except Koreans to have the same culture as Philippinnos(sp). Also, I find it hard to velieve that they'll adopt certain aspects of asian culture considering they arent really related to it (in close distance/attached). Technically, the land belong to the aborignals (sp?), if anything they should embrace their culture.
  • By that logic, Asia is part of Europe. When will they embrace their 'European-ness'?
  • You have that backward... Asia is a part of Austraila... But only because they're are SO many Asian people living there. Not supposed to be literal.
  • Excuse me Australian is NOT part of asia! and i am pretty sure im not asian :(
  • Never will Australia be part of asia or ASEAN +3. Many reasons why they can't and should not. 1.Australia and New Zealand are of European descent and their interests were always with Europe and the US for obvious reasons. 2.Australia maybe also called Oceania has always been an official continent of it's own. 3.Where was australia when east and southeast asia needed help? 4.They're purely caucasian. 5.Only oriental asians have the haplogroup O gene. (research it) 6.If Australia and New Zealand join, they would only bring western values and destroy our asian culture. 7.Im not racist, its just asia needs to keep our own union ASEAN +3, just like european countries became the European Union-EU, then North America is trying to implement a union too which i highly doubt will happen called the North American Union-NAU 8.Australia and New Zealand should create their own Union. I can go on and on about culture, history, economics, and etc. Australia and New Zealand trying to join is like saying caucasian people are africans. It's Australia and New Zealand that wants them to join not Asia

  • If Australia is part of Asia, then whatever is Australian is also Asian.
  • *smack*
  • Go back to school. There are 7 continents. Australia is a Continent. So it's not part of asia.
  • Being a part of a region in an ocean doesnt make them Asian. There is nothing to embrace. "Australia and New Zealand are part of the Oceania continent, and are on separate tectonic plates to Asia. That's why when people talk about the two countries, they may not think of them as being part of Asia. But they are an integral part of the Asia-Pacific region, also known as Apac."
  • No more than America will culturally embrace it's "mexican-ness" kiddo.
  • Australia was Oceania when I went to school. Plenty of Australia is now full of Asians the once clean country I grew up in ,In the 1970's is now filthy dirty with rubbish everywhere and dirty Asians scrapping the sea. Every town I saw Asian shops appear in heroin appeared around the same time. Lots of Asians don't know how to use a bin. Whoring must be a university course for Asian women here on student Visa's lots of Asian women here on student visa's work in whore houses. The roads are full its impossible to get a seat on a train but we keep importing rich Asians as they keep coming here Asia must be a shithole, unfortunately Australia is embracing its Asian-ness and turning into an equal shithole.
  • Australia is its own continent with European settlers, native Aborigines. Plus other people of different ethnic groups.

Alot of jippos here now that don't Identify as Australian. The people have been sold out long ago.
  • Australia is part of the Oceania continent, and is literally half a world away from much of Asia.
