Roughly the same way anyone else's mind works. Trying to figure out how *Anyone's* mind works is a mystery without any definite solution, as well as a fruitless act of stereotyping. If you asked anyone, woman or not, "How does your mind work?" do you honestly think that even they could provide you with a satisfactory answer? No one knows how anyone's mind works.

A woman's mind works approximately the same as a man's mind. However, there are small evolutionary differences because women have faced slightly different evolutionary pressures than men. For example, the stereotype that women are more 'feelings-oriented' than men has its roots in the fact that women needed to establish emotional bonds for help with raising children. There are also societal pressures that cause women to have different thought processes and priorities then men. For example, the stereotype that 'women take forever to get ready' has its roots in the strong societal emphasis placed on womens' looks. A man can rent/buy a tuxedo, shave and take a shower and he's ready for almost any social occasion. In contrast, a woman is not only expected to look her best, she's also expected to look *different* than other women looking their best. So a woman has to make dozens of fashion decisions that men avoid. And, as always, if you compare the variability within each gender, it is *far* greater than the average difference between genders. Gosh I don't know how my own mind works so how can I take a guess at any other womans, we're complex creatures and we're all different, so you men out there don't treat us all the same or you're going to be in for some ear bashings.

We are more security-oriented. Relationship-oriented. Because we draw our strength and well-being from family and by extension community. We network, weave webs of support for ourselves and our children. You can think "nesting" if you want. And the nurturance that someone else mentioned goes for the purpose of strengthening our support. So think men, children, home, work, and what makes us look and feel good.
