  • The light isn't for the oil level, it's for the PRESSURE. While low pressure is usually due to there not being enough oil for the pump to work, it's possible that the pump isn't working period, regardless of oil level.
  • I have a similiar problem with my 94 F-150, 5.0. I have low oil pressure but pressure seems to increase a bit win I add an additive like STP. I'm sure hoping it's the sending unit and not the oil pump. This may help you decide what you need to do.
  • Immediately change your oil and filter. If the pressure doesn't return to normal, then the suction strainer to your oil pump may be clogged or your oil pump may need replacing. Low oil pressure is serious. Get this fixed ASAP our you're looking at possible major engine damage.
