  • No! By the time you end up talking about Heaven and Hell, you're clearly in the Christian domain. There God's will is just what God wills, it doesn't mean automatic compliance. Free will is a cornerstone of Christianity (especially after Martin Luther tore Erasmus a new one). The idea of Jesus dying not only for the posterity, but also to absolve his forbears, was about was about wiping the slate clean and starting with a tabula rasa. With this clean slate, people are free to chose their actions. Those actions can be in accord with God's will or against God's will. But it is still the choice of the individual. At least in Christianity.
  • Quanety, you hit the nail through the heart of the bluff-masters. 2000 years ag0, people were not so clever and well-meaning but ignorant gullibles. I ran into god this morning. He said, ‘Hi, HOW are you?’ I said ‘[Buzz off!] WHY are you? What are you?’ The god-Spirit evaporated in the heat of my doubt. CS Lewis put it nicely: "There are two kinds of people: those who say to God, "Thy will be done," [believers] and those to whom God says, "All right, then, have it your way."[Atheists!] 'Child is the father of Man' (Billy Wordsworth), man is the father of God (Feuerbach -Nietzsche), God is the father of man (Bible), man['s rib] is the father of woman (Bible, again), woman is the mother of child (biology, evolution)! We are back to 'chicken or egg' puzzle!
