  • I think we are going to prove, one by one, that human beings are fallible. When we have no more heroes left standing we will realize that everyone makes mistakes, *especially* those sanctimonious jerks who pretend they do not.
  • Not always, but why does it seem that lately it's mostly republicans with their holier than though Bible thumping attitudes that do these stupid and I do mean STUPID things? This man was near the top of the list to run for president! He may not be washed up (Look at Democrat Bill Clinton)but he will not be looked at the same.
  • Yes. Many have. http://dkosopedia.com/wiki/Republican_Sex_Scandals
  • No, I do not. I think that these political leaders are sinful like all of us. This is always sad when you here of these situations. I think what is reprehensible to the public is that many of these politicians go on about how they stand for “family values”. They sometimes even lead national groups on such matters. They are always posing for the public. Once they have betrayed their marriage mate, surely the public must ask themselves about such figures: “If their own marriage mate cannot trust them –then how can I?”
  • bizarre behavior that has cost him his political career. and to answer your question, with the media of today, not likely! +5
  • They don't think with their brains m'dear, they think with another part of the anatomy..that's the problem! :)
  • Apparently they think they can, at least until they get caught.
  • I could care less what a politician does in the bedroom. If they want to have sex with their dog that's their business. As long as they do their jobs to the satisfaction of the electorate that's all that should matter.
  • Absolute power corrupts absolutely; we have given politicians too much power and too much control and they have long forgotten who they work for and lost ALL humility and respect for themselves and their positions and their constituents.
  • I have to believe that it is some form of mental illness, a desire to be caught as a way out of their stressed out lives, or an out of control ego that makes them do it. There is no way a right thinking adult with two brain cells to rub together could possibly think that they, a public figure, could get away with an extra marital affair in this day and age.
  • I still don't understand why it's anyone's business but his and his wife's, and of course the mistress's. We're talking about private activities between two consenting adults. He did not kill, maim, or injure anyone. He did not molest a child. He did not get caught trafficking drugs or embezzling state funds. He had an affair. The governor's sexual activities have NO bearing whatsoever on his job. And if you want to talk about him "disappearing" for a few days - it's not like South Carolina was going to fall off the face of the earth. So he missed a few days of signing redundant paperwork. Everyone calls in a mental health day once in a while.
  • What era is this, why wouldnt they, politicians are fallible as any human.
  • I think every country has them so why bother about them so much.As long as they are doing their jobs and are faithful to their county then it does not matter what they do in their private lives. It is all a media created and opposition scam!Even the Presidents and prime ministers are doing it.If they can do it in White House, why bother about SC!
  • Why is it any of our concern ? if the guy was just a Wal-Mart manager or something no one would care. So just because their in a Government office does that make them inhuman ? I don't agree with what he did but it's his personal life . The media just loves to create scandals to give them something to report .
  • obviously they do, otherwise they wouldnt do it. its a poor error in judgment ~ they should know that public servants are watched like hawks for any faltering in character. but frankly, i dont think its any of our business what they do in the bedroom. we elect them to do a job and that is what we should be focusing on. we have no right to invade public servants private lives if they are not committing a crime. the kenneth starr panel that investigated clintons bedroom behavior was a perfect example of a witch hunt. what an incredibly waste of taxpayers money. we have so much more important business to attend to.
  • I don't care who boinks who. Americans are busy divorcing each other at a rate around 50% and large numbers of married people both male and female report at least one affair during their marriage but we act shocked when it is a politician doing the boinking? We are a nation of hypocrites. What I do think is funny is that Stanford and Ensign, both family values Republicans, made a big stink condemning Clinton and calling for his resignation. Hypocrites of epic proportions those two eh?! Family values my ass haha How many Republicans have committed the same and worse acts? Gee, Foley was taking advantage of boys who served as congressional pages, we have the Minnesota toe tapper cruising for anonymous sex in an airport bathroom while married, Newt who was bumping his own intern while he was leading the impeachment effort of Clinton...I could go on and on. Then you have all the religious leaders who condemn others while sucking every last penny they can out of their flocks who are engaging in the same behavior they condemn. They are laughing all the way to the bedroom and the bank. Oh, and did you notice that when FOX reported this they showed on the screen Sanford (D)? Funny, I wonder how many ignorant neocon Bible thumpers are at home still believing this family values crap?
  • Probably, or else they probably wouldn't do it. It's kind of like steroids in baseball. For every case you hear about, there's a thousand more you don't hear about.
  • I don't care what this guy does with his dick. For me, the bottom line is he did not show up for work, he did not call out. That is grounds for immediate termination at ANY job, period.
  • who cares who they are screwing
  • in this era??? Clintom did, Jesse Jackson did, John Kennedy did,etc...why is this era so righteous?
  • Probably. They (politicians)operate in every case on the assumption that people are not really paying attention and will forget.
  • Regardless of what they would have you believe, they are human beings just like the rest of us and a stiff d..k has no conscience. How many women politicians do you ever hear about comitting adultery?
  • For the same reason that John Edwards, Bill Clinton, and the good Rev. Jesse Jackson do, one would suppose. And let's not forget the funnest of the fun, one Mr. Catch-Me-If-You-Can Gary Hart, or why anybody who aren't politicians do, and that would be they don't really love their spouses and the wedding vows mean nothing to them is a guess.
  • This era? Check out Jefferson, F.D. Roosevelt, Benjamin Franklin.... the list is long. Adultery is not a crime. I don't think, as far as breaking laws go.
