  • My guess would be that the region was changed on the player. Either with or without your knowledge and/or without a human doing it. If this is the case, you may be able to find how to change it back online. Search for your manufacturer and model and the key sequence that needs to be entered in you remote control to change the region. Be warned that in some cases this can only be done a couple times before the region code is locked for good. Alternatively, you could "backup" your DVDs using any program that strips the region code from them.
