  • Sounds like arthritis. If there isn't any erythema(redness) or edema(swelling) it is most likely osteoarthritis, if it feels like there is fluid around the knee with erythema and edema it is most likely rheumatiod arthritis. You can try something like Joint Juice and see if it helps. A pharmacist may be able to recommend something over the counter. If it becomes too painful, go the the ER. Other than that elevate when possible, apply warm, moist compress to help relieve any discomfort and apply ice or a cold compress to areas where edema is noted. 20 minutes on and then 20 minutes off. Prolonged heat or cold could damage underlying tissue. Ibuprofen is good for reducing inflammation.
