Very slowly. I don't play any instruments, so it is a useless skill, though. I could go about 1 note per second on the piano, I guess.
-
yup. except I get confused with reading bass clef, but I guess thats what happens when you play the flute and are use to only reading treble clef
-
Nope. Had classes back at school, back that was some time ago
-
yeah but I can't read treble clef
-
Yes, I can. I learned to play the piano at age 6, so I can read both Treble and Bass clef (simultaneously).
-
Yes
-
Only treble clef, and I can't play it instantly, I really have to concentrate, I gave up playing years ago.
-
Yes. I've played piano since age 6, clarinet and violin since 10, and various other instruments since high school. Went to college for piano and music ed. I've never been able to play by ear, however. I've always envied those who can do that.
-
Yep. I am a flautist, so I had to learn sometime...:-)
-
Yes.
-
I can read any sheet music. I take piano lessons every day almost. I write my own music sometimes too.
-
no i can't.
-
Yes I can!! Since I was 6. Better now than then... I read piano sheet music, voice and guitar (tabs though, I'm not good with reading notes with guitar)
-
To a degree. Not nearly quick enough to play fluently, but I understand the concept. For me music has always been about expressing my unique feelings, as apposed to interpreting another’s art.
-
yes I can, but I had rather make music between the sheets. Ooooh..that is so corny, but I couldn't resist
-
No regrettably, I am a dancer , can play guitar but not read the sheet
-
As of right now, yes. I play Tenor Sax and can only read Treble Cleft.
-
Yes, Bass and Treble cleff, but could never get my head round tabs
-
I read tab for the guitar, but that's cheating.
-
Once upon a time, obviously I wasn't very good at it. I was practically kicked out of band.
-
Yes, 8 years of piano lessons
-
Yes, I learned to read sheet music as I was learning to play alto sax. I was about 12.
-
Yes.
-
Yes, I play piano & guitar.
-
Being actively involved in music, I'd be damned if I couldn't.
-
Yes, EASY and SIMPLE.
-
Uh, sort of. I used to, but I can't do it very well now.
-
Not yet, but I am taking lessons on classic guitar. The problem is that I learned about to play the guitar on Tabliture, so you learn a lot of bad habbits for when you want to learn how to read music, you get tabs and reading music mixed up.
-
Nope, not in the slightest, i respect those that can though.
-
I play guitar. Yes.
-
Yes: treble clef, bass clef, and tab.
-
yep I have been playing the flute for 6 years :)
-
yes i can.
-
I can,...I just mess up a lot. I'm still learning.
-
For most instruments! I had to learn to play almost everything, and to read all types when dreaming of being a conductor.
-
Any trained musician should be able to read sheet music to a degree.
-
Yes. I was "forced" to take piano lessons at an early age. Only when I became an adult did I appreciate the ability.
-
to some extent. I have had to pick up some skills as a vocalist.
-
Yes, I can read treble cleff, I would have to after playing trumpet for 5 years. I started when I was 10. I can also read guitar tabs, but that doesn't really count.
-
Yeah I've been playing the violin for 6 years. I also play guitar but I don't read sheet music for it very well.
-
not yet but i want to some day.
-
yes...i play trumpet and im learning to play piano/keyboard.
-
I can read treble clef without a problem, but I have trouble with the bass clef. I play trumpet, and I learned to sight read music from the bass clef from my brother's trombone sheet music so we could play duets. Since a trumpet is a B flat, treble instrument, I learned to automatically transpose the notes to match the instrument I was playing. As a result, when I look at a note on the bass clef, I don't see the actual note, but the transposed not for the trumpet.
-
Yes, from years of piano, guitar, trombone, and to a lesser extent percussion. Of course percussion doesn't have different "tones" per se but the rhythms are written in standard notation. They contain time signatures, dynamics and a special notation for the different rudiments (depending on which school of drumming you come from) such as the flam, a roll, para-diddle etc.
-
4 years of piano lessons and all can read is the title. I can read the notes but it takes forever for each note. My 10 year old daughter does better than I do.
-
No, but I've had to listen to some sheet music... hang on did I say that right *grin*
-
I am learning to read guitar sheet music. It's alright, my books also have slash notation, so it makes my knowledge of strumming easier.
-
i play trumpet. of course
-
I used to be able to when I played piano some five years ago. I guess I'll find out Friday when I start violin lessons! :O
-
Yes... Trying to play the Rachmaninoff Concertos had trained my eyes beautifully to adjust to impossible music :D
-
Yes, including C clef though I'm a little slow with that and I get confused with the B on the line Bass clef and below when playing piano.
-
Yes. I'm an opera singer so its kind of a prereq. I'm a pretty darn good sight reader if I do say so myself!
-
hahaha, no I can't but I can read guitar tablatures, and I can play pretty much any musical instrument you hand me. I'm just that good :-P Well that's what people tell, and my music teacher, and her substitute teachers, so I guess yeah, I am that talented, although that sounds really conceited, and self centered :-( not cool
-
No, but I have been playing piano for 5 years, all by ear, which i think is better, and i have learned alot of songs just by listening to them.
-
i can read sheet music for drums, not drum tabs, i'm talking actual drum notation. i can almost read other notations like piano and stuff
-
Reading Sheet Music?....Regarding music, I can't read s**t....
-
Yes, quite well. My husband taught me to play piano and I've been 'reading and playing for years now. I really enjoy listening to a piece of music and follow along with the sheet music, especially my favortie concertos. It's amzing how much more it brings to a piece I thought I loved before and simply find amazing when seing it before my eyes.
-
Yes. It opens a whole new world for you as a music lover and makes you somewhat independent of other people's interpretations.
-
Yes, I learned it at the conservatory, with classical guitar. I was also in a choir.
-
yah that is easy!!!!
-
yup. i play guitar and piano and can sight read for both. i could probably do it for trumpet too, just let me practice a bit.
-
Yes, I can play several different instruments. I was a band director.
-
Yes I can read Bass Clef music. I play trombone which is an Instrument that uses no keys but a slide. I got first chair all valley in deep South Texas when I was in 8th grade and I march in the marching band!! Very cool for a youngster!!
-
heck yes, i can read music. i play flute n my school band.
-
yep...treble clef only...forgot how to read bass clef
-
Yes. Classically trained with various horns ... mostly trumpet, but also cornet, trombone, French horn, and tuba.
-
Yes :)
-
Yes. I learned to read music when I was 4.
-
Yes.
-
Yes, I used to play clarinet.
-
for the piano--yes
-
yes. I can also, to some extent sight read vocals.
-
yes. i've played piano, violin, and flute (quit violin though, too squeaky). i can also play by ear, and i'm known to finger along to parts of a piece that other instruments play, even if i don't know the notes. i don't have perfect pitch though, unfortunately, but i'm hoping i'll develop it somehow. i've always thought it was cool.
-
I played the flute when I was in school from the 5th grade until my senior year. So yes I can read music.
-
Yes, I can read a treble clef and an alto clef. Mostly the treble clef though because of it being used with the violin, which I play.
-
Yep, I used to be in band.
-
I play guitar and i just learned to read music but im still a beginner and i can't do tabs as it cornfuses the crap out of me
-
Yep treble and bass, I'm even somewhat familiar with C clef from music theory. I sing and play piano well enough that I can be given any sheet music without really large stretches in one hand and it comes out as something. Tempo is another story on sight reading more difficult piano music.
-
Not anymore.
-
Very Very slowly I can tell you which note on the paper is which letter note...Other than that, no. I couldn't tell you what it all meant, and I am tone deaf! :)
-
no, i wish i could.
-
Yup!!! I learned when I was...4 years old. :P
-
I still can a little, need to freshen up and would be good at it again
-
Yes.
-
Yep. Since I was six years old. I don't sight-read as well as I used to any more. I'm terribly out of practice.
-
I can, but I am not an expert. I just know.
-
Yeah, I started to learn when I was in primary school, because I was learning to play the piano. I've forgotten a lot of it now, though. But I was never good at reading the bass clef notes.
-
Yes I can. I learned soon after I got married. My husband taught me and how to play the piano, too:-)
-

-
Yea! I'm both a flautist and a guitarist. Flute two years ago and guitar just this year.
-
Yes, but you have to practice it daily for many years to be proficient at it. Depending on what instrument you are learning there are alternate systems, of course nothing beats than ear training! Listen to it and figure it out!
-
Of course, and I also play the clarinet.
-
I can read treble clef because i play sax. But if i play tenor or baritone sax and need to read bass clef i just take 3 flats off the key signature and read it in treble clef.It would be exactly the same. Adding 3 sharps also works.
-
yes i can but only very easy pieces
-
Yes ...
-
yes, I actualy can read in treble, bass, and tenor clef.
-
IYAM A MEXICAN I TINK A LOT OF GRINGO MUSIC IS SHEET.
