  • PVC pipe glue isn't actually a glue, its a solvent. It actually melts the pipe so that it welds together. If you use a different type of glue, it won't be a solvent for the specific chemicals in the polyvinyl chloride plastic.

  • you can use it on non-pressure situations like drain lines but it is better to get the proper glue for the pipe you are using. I use a good pvc cleaner, not primer, and the blue wet or dry glue. If done properly, you can clean your joint, apply your glue, slide it together and in less than a minute apply 60 lbs of pressure and it will hold forever.
