I'm a newbie at playing pool. What is the best advice can you give me?

I am purchasing a 4.5x9' antique pool table that has no manufacturer name on it. The table is a beautiful piece of furniture and was purchased in New York in the early 1900’s. The table has a drawer in one end to store 6 sticks and balls. Any thoughts?
