  • What do you really want to say? Do you want to ask her out? Do you just want to chat? The more indirect and casual you try to be, the more awkward you'll sound. Don't be blunt - but get to the point. Do the normal "Hey, what's up?" that everyone does, don't leap in immediately. A little introduction might be good. This is not good: You: "Hi, may I please speak with GIRL?" Girl: "Hi, this is GIRL" You: "Hey, this is me, what's up?" Girl: "Oh not much, " You: "-wanna go out?" Try to sound determined, but not too hurried. If you want to go out to a movie, I would include that. Saying, "Would you like to go to see Casino Royale?" is a lot better than "Wanna go out?" Once again, I need to add a disclaimer: I don't call girls up, I don't go out with people, and I am a 17-year-old male. Advice from an experienced female is probably better.
