  • Most likely a downshift problem in the transmission that is causing RPMs to drop to low. Once the engine is off the transmission is forced to reset to neutral or park so you can start the engine again.
  • Does this happen when the truck is in park as well? If so the diaphragm in the brake booster may have A crack in it causing A fast vacuum leak when the brake is used. Is the engine light on? you may have A bad censer somewhere if it is.
  • ONE WAY TO CONVICT THAT BRAKE BOOSTER IS IF YOUR BRAKE PEDAL IS EXTREMELY HARD WHEN YOUR BRAKING THAT WOULD INDICATE A VACCUM LEAK WHICH IS THE FIRST THING I WOULD OF SAID.DOES THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT EVER COME ON? A VACCUM LEAK WOULD CAUSE AN ERRATIC (LEAN) EMISSIONS READING THAT THE COMPUTER WAS FIGHTING TO ENRICHEN.HOW'S YOUR MPG ? IT ALL ADDS UP.
  • The fuel pump housing might have fallen out and is just laying in the fuel tank not upright. When you brake, the fuel moves away from the pump causing the engine to stop. When you finish braking, the fuel moves back, surounds the pump and it starts right back up. You can check this by seeing if it only happens when you have about a 1/3rd of a tank of fuel left. If it is full, it shouldn't happen. Hope it helps.
