Yes. I don't think that'll work for data transfer though, unless the USB port goes directly to a drive, and even then I think it might not work...

No. I'm not sure if macs have that capability, but i'm pretty sure windows based machines won't do a damn thing if you connect them together with either a USB or ethernet cable. Set up a network. It's easier than you'd think.
