  • Yes, it's possible due to a manufacturing defect. As for danger, no, generally, the short circuit will quickly fry the connection, releasing very little heat energy. I have seen short circuits in other components causing fires, though... for example if you install an electrolytic capacitor in backwards, it can catch fire and actually cause the circuit board to burn.
