Well, she can have one and still be a "cat lady". It is the attitude about cats not the number no?

In my opinion, 3.
-
I would say 3-5 would be decisive, though it is more of a personality thing than a matter of quantity.
-
7 Don't ask why. It's a number that just popped in my head.
-
Probably 8 or 9. It gets hard to keep things clean after that, in my opinion.. Ive had 3 and that's hard work. It can be done, but cleaning would be an everyday, most of the day chore. Too bad they couldn't poop outside like the old days, hahaha:)

My dau is very cat lady-like and she only has one right now. She used to have two. She can talk on and on about cats.
-
Just a whisker!

It's not the number of cats she keeps, it's the depth of the shed cat hair on the floor and furniture and the strength of the cat-urine stench in her house, that determines whether or not she's a "cat lady." Twelve cats and a clean house is not a cat lady. One cat and cat hair everywhere and masks needed to breathe? Cat lady.

My brother Gerry is an idiot about most things (e.g., girl advice, world geography, plus he thieves & can't swim), but he's worked out a mathematical equation for your question. It's simple. More than 1 cat per 250 square feet of house constitutes a cat lady (or dude). Our step-mom keeps 4 cats in her 750 sq. ft. trailer. Cat lady.

She has to be somewhat lonely and oblivious to conversational cues. Every time you or anybody else tries to end an otherwise pleasant conversation, she has to keep talking. And talking. And talking. About her grown children, where they live, what they do for a living, her opinions of all the neighbors in great detail, How she feels about religion and politics and who needs a good dose of both. She has to complain how the kids moved so far away, how large her phone bill is.....and in the middle of nearly every sentence, she must also be talking to at least one cat.
-
Just one, but usually more.
-
I would say four or more.
-
None actually.
-
I'd say if you love cats, then you are a cat lady (or man). But, when it comes to "crazy" cat lady, I'd say it would have to be more than half a dozen. Or perhaps more cats than you have fingers? We have five, but I don't think we're quite crazy...yet!

Here is what has to be done to a house that a cat woman with 16 cats did to it.
-
More than 3. I am a cat lady.
-
She can only have 1 and be a cat lady by my definition: Anyone that treats cats like people Can be applied to dogs too, or any animal for that matter.
-
