If and when Obama becomes leader there will be.

-
VictorineWhat on earth are you talking about?
-
-
Before I reply I will let you know that I am an Asian chick. That being said, no there is definitely no shame in saying that you are proud to be white. People SHOULD be proud of who they are. There is a difference between being proud and being a supremist.
-
I am proud of my ancestry. I know what it is. I know my "roots" back 900 years. If my "white" skin bothers anyone, I also have a white arse that anyone is welcome to kiss...(sarcastic grin).
-
Noone should feel shame in what they are, but also noone should feel the need that EVERYONE else needs to be just like him/her. Embrace the ethnical and cultural differences that make the earth what it is.
-
No, for white people founded this country, and we are the children of the Founding fathers, or at least, some are.
-
No, stand proud!!!!
-
I don't think so, Captain Jack. I'm not proud to be a white woman, though..I'm not proud about anything having to do with myself. I am proud of others and their accomplishments..but it has nothing to do with ethnic background, religious beliefs, political persuasions..it has to do with the quality of their character..so, I probably wouldn't be proud that you are a white man, but I do feel proud of you as a person..you've always treated me fairly and with kindness! Happy Monday! :) ((hugs))
-
Not in the least.
-
Not at all.
-
No fo course not ! :)
-
NO all the other ethnic groups get to celebrate there culture and race so why should'nt we.
-
No, but if you are like most white Americans it does make you feel strange like you're kind of doing something bad. It has become more than politically incorrect to be white without shame it has almost become a stigma. That shame is becoming almost ingrained. Almost all of us, except white supremacists, would rate the comment "lived his life as a proud black man" as more NOBLE than the comment "lived his life as a proud white man". I am proud of people of other races for their accomplishments and the dignity with which people live their lives. But, the time has come to stop the hate towards white Americans simply because they are born white Americans. We are Americans black, white, Asian, Arabic, Hispanic.
-
Say It Loud - I'm White and I'm Proud :)
-
no im proud to be a white woman
-
Nope. No shame in admitting that you're proud to be a member of the most privileged group in American society. As long as it doesn't turn into a white hooded affair. :) Which I'm sure it won't. BTW, my daughter loves to see your adventures on the big screen Cap'n.
-
I feel we should all be proud of who we are and conduct ourselves in a way that being proud is well deserved. I see nothing wrong with it as I don't see anything wrong with another race being proud.
-
Knock yourself out, but you didn't really do anything to become white. You just are white. I don't think people should be proud of their color. I do think that taking pride in one's heritage and in the accomplishments of that heritage is ok, however.
-
not at all- unless you feel that a black man is unsuperior.
-
No why should there be shame. Im white, and Im proud too.
-
No, shame at all. Feel free to hmm this little melody: "If your white & your happy, clap your hands...CLAP CLAP. If your white & your happy, clap your hands...CLAP CLAP. If your white & your happy then your face will surely show it..." ;) JK
-
no, not at all! *Play that funky music white boy*:)
-
.
-
I think you were right the first time?
-
Of all the things that people can be proud of or bash others ones level of melanin seems like it should be way down on the list.
-
No, there's not.Not on a surface level. I guess maybe you could change the question up a little and ask if there's any shame in admitting you're an American of European descent though. That may get a different answer anymore, also. ;)
-
Nadda...now a pirate and a scallywag, that'd be a whole 'nother story. ;~)
-
yes... you could get a sunburn but it would be stolen from you like the land was from us part natives!
-
no shame whatsoever. it's when the pride goes overboard and one race begins to see itself as superior, but other than that we should all be proud of our races i think
-
NO!!! THERE SHOULDN'T!!! I think this is a really great question! We ALL have a right to be PROUD of who we are!
-
No. One can be proud of their heritage. Supremesists seem to believe that if one race is good others must be bad, rather than admit that we all have triumphs and failures throughout history. It's silly really. Oh, the humanity...
-
i'm a black man, and i say there is definitely noting wrong with being proud of who you are!!
-
Please, try to concentrate on being proud that you are a decent, honorable man, regardless of skin color. That's the most civilized, educated way to go.
-
I will never be ashamed of being white. I think that everyone who tries to tell you that you should be ashamed for the color of your skin is a racist regardless of their own skin color.
-
That was the first time I answered the question. You must have me mistaken for someone else.
-
Nothing wrong with it at all. To be ashamed of your ethnicity is to be ashamed of your ancestors, and no one should be ashamed of their forebears. Be proud of the struggles and triumphs of those who came before you, and try to live up to their example. Personally, I am very proud of my European heritage... I think it's neat. But people of other ethnicities shouldn't be any less proud of their heritage as I am of mine. There's no such thing as bad heritage, or a "better" race... just better and worse actions, and both evil and valour know no colour. :)
-
ok guys im gonna crack open a new can of worms here... Ofcourse theres no shame! You have a rich history of... haha nah nevermind :) LOL
-
No. Around here, if you say that, a lot of people react like you're being racist, but I think that reaction in itself is racist. If all races are equal, then why can't we all be proud of ours, no matter what it is?
-
Not at all. Be proud to be who and what you are. However, I cannot think of a reason for me to say that I am proud to be a white woman. I know I am proud to be a good woman, a kind woman....cannot think of a reason why anyone would be proud of their colour, no matter what it is, as it isn't anything they have earned....or done.... I'm proud of my culture and language, proud of my country of origin and my country of adoption....my skin? Not so much.
-
there's nothing wrong with that, as long as you don't deny anyone else the same right
-
Why would you have to "admit" to being proud of being anything? You're white, so be white.
-
None whatsoever! +6
-
*GASP*!!!
-
did you live in a cava all your life? white as albino? they are on the pink side. white isnt a race.
-
NO, i don't think so.
-
There is no shame my fellow brother white man. We are a proud people.
-
I'm puerto rican and I am proud of myself and where I come from. I am proud of who I am. Noone should be ashamed of who they are and noone should be ashamed to say they are proud! As long as you don't look down on others.
-
isnt pride a sin?
-
Not at all. As long as you respect the fact that there are other people in this world who are not, and have every right to be equally proud. A little Marine Corps wisdom: When you are in a foxhole, with one other person, what his/her color or creed is matters for shit. What does matter is that he/she is a Marine, and they'll die watching your back. Maybe we need to apply this perspective to the larger picture.
-
No, your born the way you are. You don't have any choice when, where, how, why, or what race you are born: and that goes for everyone. Honestly what good would it do to be ashamed of your race? So your ashamed of somthing you can't control, now who does that benifit? No one right? Does this feeling have a negative impact on someone? yes, you! So it serves no purpose to be anything other than comfortable and a little proud of your race. AND THAT GOES FOR ALL PEOPLE OF ALL RACES>
-
You can be proud of your heritage. As long as you don't think you are superior due to your white manliness then all is well.
-
no not at all, we all should be proud of our race and each of their accomplishments. There's black pride and gay pride and all kinds of pride in the world, everyone should have pride for the whole of humanity! Even us whiteys. Look at all we (mankind) have accomplished over the years in between killing each other and destroying the planet! It's a wonder we get anything done at all. Just don't forget all the bad things all of us have done, whites blacks asians etc...so history won't repeat itself.
-
NO SHAME AT ALL, SOMETIMES I WISH I WAS A WHITE MAN AND IM A BLACK WOMAN.
-
Well, vis-a-vis Native Americans, I suppose so! ;-)
-
it's OK, it would also be OK to be proud you are a human being, I can't understand the concept myself. I really don't feel proud of my skin, I'm not embarassed by it I just see it as stuff that goes red in strong sunlight.
-
NO. not at all! I'm proud to be a Filipino Woman! && if people don't like that it's okay BECAUSE people treat me different [negative and/or positive]all the time due to my race & being female. it something I just have to live with.
-
never ever ever feel ashamed of your background..culture..race..ever! what really kills me is when someone calls me white girl..lol and they think it's an insult..like its a bad thing to be what i am..g-d thats so sad..i always say yea..and i love it!! but the second you say something about black people (this happened to me..so i'm not generalizing or pointing anyone out) they freak out and call me racist.. so let me get this straight you can call me white and try to offend me..but if i call you black you flip out.. people are so retarded
-
Sounds a little racist to me...ha, yeah that is the first thing that comes most peoples mind. It's a shame really. As for myself, I'm not proud to be a part of my race. I have no special kinship with people like me. I don't feel anymore comfortable with them than I do with others. But to answer your question, it is perfectly fine being proud to be who you are. Hell, I don't even root for my school or have school t-shirts or anything. Like I'm going to be happy for a place that raped me financially. No school spirit in me. It's somewhat related to the topic at hand.
-
Is it wrong to be proud of who you are? NO! If a black man says he is proud to be black would that be wrong? NO! Jesus gave us an 11th comandment, love our naibors as we would love ourselves, this indicates we SHOULD love ourselves first!!!!
-
I am not proud of being white, of having brown eyes, of balding, of having UK size 8 feet, or indeed anything that is nothing to do with any achievement of mine. However, I *am* proud of some of the things I have done, and ashamed of others. Very strange question, in my opinion.
-
no of course not just like if someone is hispanic they can be proud of that. its good to be proud of who you are.
-
as to keshia , that statement was made by a black comedian I saw the show , it was great , so who care s what color you are we are all americans and before it is all over we will be one race THE HUMAN RACE
-
As long as you don't believe it makes you superior to others.
-
no because im white and british and proud of it but my parner is asian and im also proud of that ,as long as you dont mean it in a racial way i dont think there's no shame.
-
Well no. But why are you proud of being white? I can understand you being proud to be American. I'm proud to be Scottish. But I just don't get being proud of being white, I never have been. Never even thought about it.
-
Hell NO I am too :)
-
I don't think there's any shame in being any particular color, but what's the point in being proud of it? You couldn't help what color you were born, and it's not as though you accomplished something by being white or any other color. If you were proud of being a great dad, or getting a A in Geology or keeping your room clean, I could understand that. Being proud of a color - I'm sorry but I don't get that. It's like being proud of having 10 toes.
-
ABSOLUTELY NOT, INFACT YOU SHOULD BE PROUD OF IT. HAVE A NICE DAY. MIKE
-
Absolutely not! This "white guilt" stuff has got to go! I myself am predominantly white with some Cherokee, but I identify myself as white. I'm sick of it being considered "racist" to be happy/proud that you're white!
-
Definitely not . It's nice to be proud but u should not disrespect others :)
-
None whatsoever - of course there's no special glory in being a "white man" either - you just are what you are and that's about it.
-
Shame? No. But it does seem a bit silly to be proud of something you had absolutely no control over.
-
NOPE, its God given..as it is for ALL...
-
Nope not at all, but hope you're not a part of a hate group like KKK either. From one white guy to the next.
-
ABSOLUTELY NOT.
-
No, there shouldn't, if you're white, then tha'ts what people see you as, that's how you're identified, you can't change it, you were born with that skin colour and into that society that identifies you as white, if you are ashamed, then you'll have to live with that all your life, you should be proud or maybe thankful, just don't be too proud 'cause that leads to a downfall
-
No you should be very proud to be white man and carry your head high and proud. White mem built this country and have fought to keep it free. White men have so very much to be proud of and do not ever forget that. Look at all the white men in history and all they gave for this America. White men do have have to brag as their actions show all they have done. Be very proud. White men made way for all others.
-
UHHM you haven't done anything to be proud of. race is an accident of birth, you had no control over it. If you cure cancer you can be proud of it because you would have actually done something to be proud of. BTW i'm white also
-
we should just be proud and grateful that "we are" ...but there should be no shame in anyone of their color or race...we are what WE , as individuals, make of OURSELVES...
-
there shouldn't be any shame in being proud of whatever ethnic group you come from, providing that you appreciate and respect the variety of skin tones and colours you see around you and hold yourself high with a false sense of superiority and self-importance. im a mixture of black/indian/white. so yeah im proud to be HYBRID.
-
No, unless you think of yourself better than other people who are different than you. But there is nothing wrong in being pround of being a white man.
-
well, you can proud to be a white, but don't forget others also can be proud because they are black, fair, or whatever...
-
I don't know. I would feel weird taking great ride in something I had no hand in, like having brown eyes or really big feet. It's just something that happened all by itself, nothing to do with me. There are plenty of white ladies with brown eyes and hair, nothing to get excited about. I've been proud of some things I've accomplished, but it was what I put into them that mattered, and it mattered to me personally, didn't need to go about telling others about it.
-
OF COURSE NOT.
-
Not at all. As long as you don't put other cultures down, then there is nothing wrong with being proud of your heritage.
-
im proud to be white too yayyyyyy
-
You should be proud to be what you are born to be. If you are a white man, then be proud to be a fair minded white man. If I am a yellow man then I should also be proud to be one.
-
No, no shame. Just don't become a racist and biased to the ethnicities. :)
-
no , absolutely not...should a black man or an asian man be ashamed of their race? i think not..no race should be ashamed of or even hate their God Given life..JUSTME:)
-
I'm proud to be a white man also... 'nuff said. But one thing i am not proud of is the restrictions me and my fellow white brothers are of late being subjected to, as a pre-med student going into my 4th year I have become familiar front and back with the process of medical school application and sadly I cannot find a legitimate reason for the "X Factor". For those of you who arent up to date on this issue, the X factor is a numeric value given to a person because of their race and gender. if you are of african, mexican or asian heritage you receive a number, white and arab people do not get this number. And if you are a female you are rewarded a number as well. Now what this does is add points to your overall score which takes into account MCAT, GPA ,and guess what, the X factor. Your acceptance is based on the combination of your 3 scores. Im not sure if every state not true if every state uses this system but it is here in Texas and frankly it is an outrage! Since when has race made one person more credible of a surgeoun thatn another??? shouldnt it be based on who has the grades and willingness to become a good doctor?
-
I think there is a diffrence between beeing proud of who you are and beeing proud of being white. The first one, yeah, everyone should be proud of being who you are, of your family, of your roots. Being proud of being white is as stupid as being proud of having two legs, or being proud because you have eyelashes. Being white is as good as being black, brown, yellow, green or whatever. So, be proud of yourself, the colour of the skin doesnt make you!
-
You know your roots back to 900 years. Most African Americans do not. Their ancestors were taken from their countries, and members of their families were then sold separately to different slave owners living in different locations. Thus no oral genealogical history passed down from generation to generation. And since slaves were forced to assume the names given to them by their white "owners," many African Americans cannot now simply go to Ancestry.com to track their roots back to their own countries. Also, until well into the twentieth century, African Americans were prohibited by law and/or illegal means--such as lynching, flogging, or imprisonment--from learning to read and write, so they could not read about their own histories through books or exchange letters or publish newspapers tracking those histories. Even if they could have (and many were courageous enough to risk their lives in order to learn how to read and write), their histories and experiences were omitted from textbooks until the very recent past. Furthermore, many white ethnic groups (Italians, Irish, etc.) were discriminated against when they first came, by choice, to the U.S. As years passed, however, and they lost their accents and the particular customs that made them stand out, they were simply assimilated the larger white population. Blacks were not able to assimilate in the same way and so lacked the privileges that came with being white. (And yes, there were many many privileges, such as voting, access to education, being declared human by law, etc..having a decent job, earning livable wages...) With assimilation, white ethnic groups were able to lose, for the most part, the stereotypes originally attached to them (Italians as "greasy dagos"; Irish as drunk, lazy, and dishonest); not so blacks. Kept, by both legal and illegal means, from reading and education of any sort for so many years, blacks were constantly exposed to the stereotypes attached to them, and thus taught NOT to be proud of who they were. That's why it was, and is, so very different for a man to say he is proud to be black in comparison to a man who says he is proud to be white. That's why the black pride movement in the 60's was so revolutionary. Whites were never taught to be ashamed of themselves. They were, and in many cases still are, taught to consider themselves superior to blacks. This is not just a thing of the past. We need to distinguish here between heritage and race. It makes sense for a white man to say that he is proud, for example, of his Italian American heritage: the customs, language, food, etc. It does not, however, make sense for a man to simply say he is proud to be a white man. Of course he is free to say it. However, why even state it? It's always been a given that white men should be proud of who they are. Everyday in this country is white pride day, without it ever having been declared. So please forgive me now if I not so graciously decline to kiss your white arse. I'm afraid it's been kissed for far too long.
-
None at all Capt.
-
HELL NO!!! Although some people might consider you to be a racist. It's like a Hispanic comedian once said (I believe it was George Lopez), "Minorities are always told to be proud of their heritage. If you saw someone who's Hispanic and he has a bumper sticker on his car that say's 'Proud to be Hispanic' everyone would say, 'good for him!' If a black person had a bumper sticker that said, 'Black and proud' everyone would say, 'good for him!' But if a white person had a bumper sticker that says, 'I'm proud to be white' he would have a lot of people, even his own race, flipping him off and calling/assuming he was a racist!" Sad but true. Great question by the way! +4
-
OF COURSE NOT.
-
no there should be no shame if you are a white person also if you are any other color there should no shame anyone that thinks any different might be or probably is a racist and is just afraid to admit or they are scared of the truth
-
there should'nt be any shame in admitting that you are a white man provided you don't tell this as if you are superior to others or being racist. if its just a reaction then its ok!
-
Your race isn't an accomplishment, its a trait, I don't say I'm proud to be black. I would be happy being any race. Why are you "proud" to be white? Why wouldn't you be happy with another race?
-
Of Course not! But unfortunately yelling "White Power!" gets a more negative reaction than yelling "Black Power!".. Black power conjures up cool dudes with big afros, leather jackets and black panther berets fighting the MAN! White power conjures up images of not so cool dudes with Klan gear on burning the cool afro dudes. ....Maybe us whites need to work on our PR a bit more?
-
White is just as good, or bad, as any other race. All the telling points are internal. An individual clings to low-end characteristics such as pride only because the higher end eludes him.
-
White is ok. Especially if you are useful for the rest of us. Like if you are scientist or whatever brings benefit to life.
