  • u are dead it doesnt matter!
  • i prefer cremation...you don't have to pay for a burial plot or casket. and it's a cheaper funeral service if the person is ashified.
  • it is cheaper. and all that is really needed is a headstone. or an urn. i want my ashes tossed into a gale force wind.
  • Well, in terms of long-term space issues, cremation is certainly better. But recall two things: 1. In terms of energy, you still have to use some to burn a person vs. the energy put into the embalming and casketing process. So in terms of energy, it's sort of a wash. 2. [Not for the squeamish] At least when you bury someone, they will eventually return to the earth, unless you buy a metal or concrete-encased casket. But many folks who are cremated spend their time in an urn = not returned to the earth. If the ashes are scattered, then for "final disposition," I'd say cremation wins this segment hands down. :o)
  • Cremation is less expensive here and therefore less of a burden on the family, so it may be "better."
  • There are certain factors that must be considered one's religious faith, finances, and space. Ultimately, its a personal choice with the person who is pre planning their funeral. So are you going to be cremated or going the whole route of embalming plus viewing? Open casket/closed casket? Hopefully, thats MANY years down the rode...:)
  • It depends on what your definition of "better" is. If you're thinking in terms of price, cremation is much cheaper than burial. If you're thinking in terms of environment (global warming, etc.) then burial is better, as carbon dioxide is one of the by-products of cremation.
  • If you're Catholic cremation isn't an option!
  • It's a personal choice or depends on your religion. I personally prefer cremation, I take up space in life, I don't need to take up space when I am gone. I pre planned to be toasted and tossed upon my death :)
  • In the future and not too distant in places like the UK there will not be a choice the land space is running out for burials.
  • it depends on your religion and culture and the mythology of the culture you are from.
  • It really doesn't matter. The soul leaves the body right after it passes. I believe it is a personal choice but the process wouldn't make a difference. They are already in a peaceful place. It would depend on the ceremony and the family. If it makes the family feel more at peace with a burial, then that's what it should be. Some people may not want a burial and would rather spread ashes in the ocean or in the mountains. Both ceremonies can be beautiful.
