  • "GOOGLE EARTH"
  • They (being in the Northern Hemisphere) noticed that as they journeyed north, the sun became lower in the sky and never appeared completely overhead, whereas if they went south, at certain times of the year it was exactly overhead. A particular mathematicina based in Alexandria was told that on a certain day the sun at no0on was directly overheade at Syrene, in the south of Egypt. He measured the angle of the sun on the same day in Alexandria, and calculated a valuie for the size of the earth that is within 2% of our current value. The horizon is also a bit of a giveaway. On a flat earth, ships would just get smaller as they sail away, not disappear from the bottom up.
