  • Wesleyanism is a branch of Methodism. Best I can tell, the primary difference is over the doctrine of sanctification. They are in the holiness camp, which believes a person can be completely delivered from sin in this life, as opposed to progressively, but never completely, overcoming it. However, it looks like they originally divided from Methodism in the 1840's over the issue of slavery, and many Wesleyans were active abolitionists. They were also liberalizing the role of women, even to the point of ordination, by the late 1800's.
  • Basically, Wesleyan are the same as Methodists, except they tend to be more conservative. If you are familiar with Free Methodists or Nazarenes, the Wesleyans are very similar.
