  • Dell gets sources most of it's touch pads from Synaptics, it's highly likely one of their refrence drivers will work with your pad. However, bear in mind OEM companies like Synaptics have been known to produce special versions for their customers that require a brand specific proprietary driver available not available on the component makers site (ie Synapics), forcing people to use the (DELL) proprietary drivers. You didn't have to remove vista. It is possible to dual boot a computer with multiple operating sytems, I have done this for years with Windows XP and Windows 2000. I'd suggest you format the drive, install vista, then install Windows XP. http://www.synaptics.com/support/drive.cfm
