to feel pain is to know that there is pleasure, without a comparison pain would be neutral. so on those grounds i would prefer pain than nothing.

Feeling pain is much better than not feeling it. You could cause far more problems if your brain didn't send pain signals to let you know to STOP doing what you are doing.

In my opinion, from a physical standpoint, it is better to feel nothing. (Thank goodness for anesthesia, for example) From an emotional standpoint, if the option of serenity and contentment wasn't available, I would rather feel numb. Good question. +

To feel pain, is better, you have to feel pain, to feel pleasure. Feeling, nothing, would be very hollow.

to me sometimes it is better to feel pain especially if it is the kind of pain that causes me to pursue better in life and make better choices

Depends on the severity, how chronic, and how it compares to your capacity to feel pleasure. ------ if severe and greater, or at least far greater, then it's better to be numb.

Pain is better because then you know something affects you. If you don't feel anything you can't know which way to go, what is wrong, if there is something wrong, or that people are trying to help you.

As I have pain every day, I would be very glad to feel nothing. To have pain for long time makes life very difficult. Bobbie

It depends how long you have pain. We say if we have pain means we are alive. For me personally is better to feel nothing! The reason: I have pains every day (neuralgias)! Bobbie

the way my past week has been gong after being pain free for ten months to have it come back and slap me in the ass, i would rather feel nothing...

To feel pain. I witnessed an elder fellow that had no feeling in his finger, place his hand on an old lawn mower, where a rusty steel wire went right through that finger without him knowing it,(until finding resistance whe he went to move that hand.

Dead bodies feel nothing. There is a good reason for that.
