The "Red Baron" was a German pilot who was the top ace of WWI. His name was Baron Manfred von Richthofen (b.2 May 1892-d.21 April 1918), Von Richthofen shot down 80 enemy aircraft before he was killed in action in 1918. Richthofen was known as der rote Kampfflieger (Red Battle-Flyer) by the Germans, petit rouge (little Red) or le Diable Rouge (Red Devil) by the French, and the Red Knight or the Red Baron by the British.
