Yes, but only for PS1 games. In fact, PS1 memory cards are *required* for use with PS1 games, even on a PS2. You cannot use a PS2 card to store info for a PS1 game, even if you're using a PS2.

In addition to the other answer: You may archive your PS1 savegames on a PS2 memory card by copying them in the PS2 browser. You must, however, copy them back to a PS1 memory card before using them again.
