  • i do not know why what does it mean susperstiously?
  • Here is what I found on the 'net. Itchy Feet An itching foot foretold a long journey from which the person would derive pleasure (or walk on strange/foreign ground). If it was the right sole then the person was either going somewhere they would be welcomed ; or would undertake a task and be successful in it. The opposite was true for the left sole. Itching feet could also mean a sign of sorrow and some believed it was the forecast of new shoes. In the Middle Ages shoes needed to be broken in which might mean a sorry situation, also the idea of new shoe may related to a death in the family. BTW there is no mention of where this superstition was common - China, India, Europe, Africa, who knows?? Personally, I think it means a journey ... to the drug store to get some foot powder, hehe.
  • This could either be a contact dermatitis from shoegear or socks or could be athlete's feet. I would first start with OTC Lamisil AT once a day for a week and if it does not improve, go see your nearest podiatrist.
  • Yes when my circulation gets bad in my feet or legs.
  • Yes, it does. Especially at times when it would be impossible or inappropriate to scratch it.
  • Yeah,....I have always been told when the bottom of your foot itches it means you are going to take a trip. Are you going somewhere?
  • I have no answer as the sole of my right foot has been itchy for some time now. So I also would be interested in how to end this
  • My right foot is itching now and has been for about a week....guess what? I'm off to africa in 4 weeks :-)
  • Who knows. Try this .. after a shower ... immediately put moisturizer on the bottom of your foot. Or, put it on before you go to bed and wear a sock all night. If that doesn't help after a couple of days .. you might need to see the doctor or put cortisone cream on it.

  • This works for me: Use a large band-aid (the 2 X 4 inch ones) and put tea tree oil on the pad. Adhere it over the itchy spot. Step on a washcloth or something because the oil might come out through the little holes in the bandage, or use the waterproof kind I was up almost all night sometimes with the terrible itching inside the sole of my foot right under the toe part of my foot. Nothing helped. I tried the tea tree oil (health food stores or online) and the itching stopped within minutes. I re-applied the bandages every night before bed and left them on all the next day, and after about a 2 weeks of that the itching is gone. I read that for other people the itching comes and goes, so maybe I am in a "go" cycle, but all I know is that the first night I got out of bed and tried it, it worked right away and I slept through for the first time in weeks. Tea tree oil has a distinctive aroma and is, I think, an aquired taste, but it works for lots of things. I originally bought it to stop a toenail fungus, which it did very quickly also. Love those Aussies!!!
  • I don't know what it is, but I know how I got rid of it. The itching was driving me nuts, deep inside my left foot. I put tea tree oil on a large bandage (about 2 X 4 inches, waterproof preferred because otherwise the oil oozes out onto the floor or your shoes when you walk) and applied it centered over the itchy area. A few minutes later the itching was gone. I did that every day for a couple of weeks. Sometimes I took the bandage off during the day and by night time the itching was back again. I put another bandage on and the itching stopped within minutes. I used this treatment for about 2 weeks and now I have no more itching even without the bandages. I read that the itching for many people is sporadic, so maybe I am just on a "no-itch" cycle, but during the itchy times the tea tree oil sure worked great for me. Tea tree oil (health food stores or online) has a distinctive smell, but that didn't matter to me, just getting rid of that itch was worth it. I had regular bandages with the little holes in them at first, so I stepped on a washcloth to get the excess oil out of the bandage pad before putting on shoes or slippers. Tea tree oil is a great fix for toenail fungus too. That is why I bought it in the first place. It might not work as well for everybody, but it is sure worth a try to get rid of that maddening itch that no amount of scratching can help.
  • i have had the same prob and nothing seemed to work until today, i had bought something for arthritic pain (sounds weird but i bought this item at safeway and tried a dab and it helped the pain) and from what i understand an itch is just a pain at a low degree, the item i bought is called dr. j. h. mclean's volcanic oil liniment (weird huh) but ingredients are camphor sassafrassy oil, chlorothmol, linseed (flaxseed) oil, petro and pine oil but the weirdest ingredient to my mind is turpentine oil (???) but this has been sold since the 1880s, found it in the ethnic food aisle at safeway but can probably find it on line and it only costs 3.95 (wow!), so if you up to trying anything, go to safeway or online.
  • i am wondering the same thing my foot my right foot to be exact has been really itchy for the last few days. tonight it got to the point that i was stomping the ground to help relieve the itch while i was wearing my shoes. i have tried lotion to keep them hydrated so now i guess i will try cotisone but i too have heard that if your feet itch you are going to travel but i was told strange lands so idk.....
  • Some people think it means an iron deficiency, but for me it only means I'm wearing dirty sox.
