  • It sounds like when the thermostat was changed and coolant refilled it was not properly 'bled' (air purged from the system). The air pockets in the system can cause local 'hot spots' and prevent the thermostat from opening properly. Go back to the shop that changed the thermostat and ask them to re-bleed the cooling system. Good luck.
  • Depends on whether the thermostat was changed AFTER the problem started (question is a little unclear). If you replaced the thermostat in attempt to fix this problem then.... How does the oil and coolant look? are they clean or is there any "grime" in the coolant? Clarify The situation and I might have a better idea.
