Apaches. He led them in an escape from the reservation in Arizona (1870s), then led them in raids on settlers - he was captured and sent to prison (1886)

Geronimo was part of the Bedonkohe band of the Chiricahua Apache. He was a prominent leader and medicine man within this band, which played a significant role during the Apache Wars against both Mexican and American forces. He married 9 wives, but several were killed by American or Mexican soldiers. 5/13/26
