  • horse are, donkeys are better?
  • I do not agree. They are the noblest and have been the most helpful to humans since the beginning of time.
  • I appreciate the contribution they've made to civilization but I don't trust them because they spook too easily for an animal of such size and power.
  • for me its Lions... that one out of Wizard of Oz was hella-gay!
  • how the hell are horses over rated?if anything the most over rated animal is is the dolphin.sure its actually a mammal but still its over rated and people think they are soooo smart but they're not.if they were sooo smart, then what the hell is the dolphin doing in my can of tuna? 0_0
  • NO ! Horses are the best, duh =p You obviously don't own a horse, if you did you would understand. =)
  • i would say horses and dolphins...! :) but thats true..
  • I disagree with you. There is much to appreciate about the contribution horses have given to mankind.
  • actually i think we might be we kill animals for pleasure, and waste plenty we kill others for resources we kill others simply because we think we're better we kill others because they're "in our spots" so to speak and still with all the technology that we have coming out our asses we still don't know how to save the planet and use our resources wisely
  • yeah i dont get why people like horses and i also think cats are a very overrated animal. This question has given me an idea: http://www.answerbag.co.uk/q_view/766854n
  • no, horses have a long and interesting history with man. over rated: 1) the ferret 2) the hamster (the trojan hamster? I don't think so.) 3) the dust bunny, elusive and tasteless.
  • Nope! I think dolphins are waaaaay more overrated than horses. Besides, horses have made some serious contributions to the growth and development of society!
  • I think the Walla-Roo is very under-rated.
  • Manatees are more over rated. They are slow, ugly, stupid, and serve no ecological function. They are going extinct becouse they are genetically unfit for survival.
  • No, horses have been a huge help to mankind, it's just that nowadays the only people who use them are rich brats and people who exploit them for money at the sake of the horse's health (Carriage operators and horse racing people)
  • YESSSS. 5 of my mates have them. ALL they ever talk about!!
  • Not at all. That's like saying that cars are overrated as transportation. Horses have done most of the work along with donkeys. They are what enabled people to move around so much, they are what moved armies and changed governments and world powers. They are what formed and destroyed most of the USA through plowing. Horses meant commerce and a living for even common people.
  • Definetly not In history they were mans only form of transport and harvesting large amounts of crops Now they are used for a companion, they are used for therapy for people with physical disability and mental illness, they are extreemly loyal animals also.
  • It takes a noble creature like the Horse to allow a more feeble creature like man ride upon its back.
  • No. I think they are lovely animals. I think dogs are probably the most overrated in that people project humanity on them when they are simply dogs. Don't get me wrong. I LOVE dogs...especially my big goofy boy, but they aren't people and don't think like people. When people treat them like children, they aren't doing the dog any favor. It makes them neurotic because they just don't think the way some people think that they do.
  • The most overrated animal is the Giant Panda. Damn near slothlike, a carnivore that lives primarily on bamboo, and has to be artificially inseminated in captivity to breed, the Giant Panda is an exercise in devolution.
  • No, dogs are.
  • No idea why you say so. It's true that they don't make great house pets, hard to keep in town, and seems that everybody and their brother with more then 2 acres of land has to get one or two to correl in a muddy piece of land where they don't get proper food or care because now dingdong has figured out it isn't cheap to care for. On the other hand those who have a use for and know to care for and can afford horses they are one of most splendid animals to watch. No, I disagree, humans take top prize for overrated.
  • Horses can help people in so many ways They give companionship and friendship. They do so much good with disabled children - they just seem to sense when to be extra careful and protective. They brighten up my day ( i have 13 horses and 6 donkeys - all rescued from abuse and neglect and they make me laugh and smile daily). You have to earn their trust and when you get it that makes it all the more rewarding. I think they are definately not over rated, they change so many people lives - every day! :-D
  • Thats really funny right now.
  • ...as long as they are eaten and/or abused...NO The only animal that is overrated are humans.
  • If anything, they are underrated
  • Not in my opinion but I'm totally bias though.. We have horses and they keep my kids fit, healthy, off the streets and out in the countryside which is a plus in today's society... Oh and i thought i would point out also we are not rich we go without for the privileged of having horses, although there are very many spoiled little boys and girls out there who dont know what its like to have to do all the work yourself..I'm trying to teach my kids a good work ethic as well as being good with money..
  • Err... before the advances in technology horses were used as transport, to do farm work, fighting in wars.... Even after the wheel was invented, we still needed horses to pull vehicals. We owe a lot of historical accomplishments to our powerful quadrupedal friends, and they still are used by police officers to control crowdes and other such things where our modern machinery proves too clumsy and unreliable. So show some bloody respect!
  • Way more trouble than they're worth, for sure! ;-)
  • a horse saved my life, literally. my horses are not over-rated, they were essential to my happiness
  • No, I don't think they are overrated. Those of us who appreciate their size, power, grace and intelligence are usually fanatical about them and we are normally born with the overwhelming desire to be around them. We want to feel them, smell them, talk about them, but mostly ride them! I think they are like music. I love them and I can't live without them. If you don't have the genetic makeup to appreciate them the way a lot of us do then I can understand how you might not see the appeal. But for many of us they are our air, our breath, and the stuff all our dreams are made of.
  • I've also heard (herd!) that cows are smarter than horses.
  • No. If it werent for them we wouldnt be where we are now. We owe them a lot. And they deserve more than they get. I'd say they're under rated actually.
  • No can do partner! While being a prey animal does tend to make them spooky at times...after all since the dawn of time they've had to contend with being SOMEBODY'S breakfast, lunch or dinner...who wouldn't be a tad bit spooky with this in mind?.... They have contributed way too much to mankind's progress to ever overrate them. Plus...they look real pretty and if you are good to them, they will be good to you and love you right back most of the time.
  • I don't know what you mean by overrated. What makes an animal better over another animal? Horses are powerful yet also beautiful animals. That's enough in my book to be rated highly.
  • i agree there way over rated expensive smelly and bad temperd.
  • No. I think the problem here is that to many authors who have never had the time to really get to know a horse, have written to many stories about them. Real horses are nothing like the fictional stories. But there is far more to them than most people will ever get the chance to see. Unfortunately the people who are living it, don't have the time to wright about it.
  • Definately not the most overrated animal.
  • If you consider what the horse has done for civilization I do not think you would think this. 1. Horses have history. They have been use in wars since early civilizations. They have been used as transportation to carry people and goods across the country by early settlers. 2. Horses are used in work to plow fields, carry large logs out of forests, used by mounted police, forest rangers, cowboys. 3. Horses have been used in sports--horse racing, polo, rodeos. 4. Horses have been used in medicine--therapy for people with disablities and other illnesses. Pharmaceudicals are extracted from the urine of pregnant mares. 5. Horses are things of beauty. People use them in paintings and sculptures for gardens, museums, and other places. 6. We use their hide, hair, bones, and meat in some cultures.
