A dress or very nice dress pants and a nice sweater or blouse. Something that you would wear to say a nice party or wedding. It means that casual attire is not acceptable.

"Jacket required" suggests quite formal - I wouldn't really consider anything other than a dress. It needn't be fancy - it's not a debutantes ball - a classic little black number with strappy shoes and some nice jewellry would be fine. Avoid casual fabrics like denim or cord, and preferably wear heeled shoes and stockings/ tights, and it's probably best not to wear anything too tarty or cheaplooking. Other than that just pick a pretty dress.
