Question for hair stylists or people that keep their hair REALLY short. When the person buzzing your hair asks "what number are you?" What does that mean? I'm guessing it has to do with the length you are getting buzzed. I got a number 3 today.

When you use clippers, they generally use a guard (unless you are getting your hair completely buzzed off). The number they are referring to is the guard number.
