The ginger in yours will help with sickness and the caffeine in coke will act as a temporary pick me up for your friend :o)

I think the clear colas are better than the dark when your sick. I myself can't drink any colas when I am sick I stick to soups and broths.

If I'm feeling nauseous, I usually drink either Ginger Ale or peppermint tea because ginger and peppermint can help. (Be sure to buy a Ginger Ale with real ginger in it - some don't have it anymore.) If I have a fever, I tend to stick to weak tea or water, and try to just drink lots of water. Sometimes I'll even drink bullion like my grandma did.
-
My mother always had me drink ginger ale. Now I only drink tea or water when I'm ill.
-
I never drink colas myself but I would guess the light drinks are better for you.
-
What possible difference could it make? If you are sick, drink whatever pleases you. I believe the dark versus light drink, is an old wives tale and has no merit. Are there any facts to back this belief?
-
I usually drink water or 7 up if my tummy is upset or hot tea if I have a sore throat!

I never really drink anything to cure sickness (other than hot drinks for sore throats), but once upon a time it was sprite. :P.

tea..and I think it is all psychological (or at least a great deal of it). When I was a child my mother would let me drink a (mostly milk) and tea drink whenever I was sick.
-
That whole "dark drink, light drink" thing is an old wives' tale, meant to convince you to drink SOMETHING. You need to be hydrated. And if you need hydration, put AWAY the Coke, Sprite AND Ginger Ale, as they all have so much sugar they can make your illness worse. The best thing for you is not-too-hot tea. Peppermint is very relaxing, but black tea your favourite way is fine, lots of water, and as much orange juice as you can stand (the vitamins help a lot).

I think chicken broth will beat carbonated sugar water with chemical flavoring anyday!
