  • Absolutely. Dogs lick their private parts, then transfer their bacteria to us.
  • Yes, it is. Incidentally, it is NOT a good idea to allow your dogs to eat human food because their digestive tracts cannot handle the types of food that we eat. Dog food is specially processed for their digestive tracts and any vet will tell you that it's best NOT to give your dog table scraps because it can lead to serious health issues and in some cases, death. Bottom line: Don't feed your dog table scraps, anymore, AND don't allow your dog to lick the plate because that is unsanitary.
  • well if you know how to wash dishes properly with antibacterial soap and hot hot water it shouldnt be a problem, but dogs should recive very little people food as it is bad for their stomach, teeth, and may cause unwanted weight gain and gas. I speak from experience when i say no one likes dog farts! its also hard to get dogs back down to a normal weight, maybe get a garbage disposal! dont use your pup!
  • You can wash the dishes afterwards, especially if you have a dishwasher. That sanitize cycle sure comes in handy at times:-)
  • Not only unhealthy but dirty
  • i wash the plates in hot soapy water in the sink. the cats sleep in my bed too. what doesn't kill you, makes you stronger. i don't think dogs are very different from cats.
  • Nah, I think you're good. If you wash the dish correctly, I don't see the problem. They actually say that a dogs mouth is cleaner then a humans.
  • It would be more unhealthy for the dog than for you. Licking a plate is not the same as feeding them table-scraps. AND, there ARE people who cook and make their own dogfood with pretty much the same food humans would eat (rather than the flavored grains that most dry dogfood is made from.) Licking a plate will usually only give them a bit of the flavor, and occasional bits of food as snacks SHOULDn'T hurt them. Also, feral(sp) dogs eat from garbage cans, and each others' crap. While it may still hurt their digestive tracts, it HAS to be more healthy for them to lick plates with occasional bites of human food than that! AND, dogs' tongues are CLEANER than humans' (proved by Mythbusters), yet we will "french kiss" our s/o's and worry about plates we will wash thoroughly (by hand or dishwasher) that we let a dog LICK. Why is this?
