  • Most effects are created through special effects, which may be added later, or through juducious editing to build drama and tension. Child actors don't "freak out" because they are (usually) trained performers, are familiar with the script and the requirements of the film, can separate fiction from reality, and know that it is just a job. Some of the effects may be on the 'icky' or 'gross' side, but they are simply things created by the makeup team.
  • I have worked on horror movies and the children on the set,no matter what the age, realize that the scene is fake.In fact the shooting of the scene is so boring that the children are somewhere else.The scary effect comes from special effects in editing and in the background music.
